Scholarship honors Richey

Brian and Eileen Looney of Barnwell have established a memorial scholarship in memory of their son, Dustin Richey, who passed away following an automobile accident in 2012, reports Mindy Sandifer, Agri-Science instructor and FFA advisor at the Barnwell County Career Center.

Rodeo qualifies FFA member for nationals

During the third weekend in May, Coltin Nobles, a Barnwell High School student and the 2013-2014 President of the Barnwell County Career Center FFA Chapter, worked hard to not only plan and set-up the high school rodeo arena with fellow chapter members for his FFA chapter's two-day rodeo event at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds, but also practiced and prepped his horse and himself for three high school rodeo events - saddle bronc riding, calf roping, and team roping.

Barnwell natives gallop to semifinals

Jacqueline Gray and Kaylyn Huggins, both seniors at Clemson University majoring in Animal and Veterinary Science with a concentration in Equine business, recently had the experience of a lifetime as they earned the opportunity to represent Clemson University at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Semi-Finals in Syracuse, N.Y. March 22 and 23.
