Mardi Gras Madness 
Celebrate Mardi Gras by decorating your own Mardi Gras mask Feb. 21 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Barnwell County Museum.
Register by Feb. 10 at Barnwell City Hall. The cost is $8.

Photo Block Class
On Feb. 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Barnwell City Hall youth will decorate their own photo blocks and box to display pictures of their family and friends.

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Barnwell will be celebrating their annual Family and Friends day along with their Black History Program on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 beginning with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and services following there after. Dress will be casual. The guest speaker for the occasion will be Apostle Ken Johnson of New Vision Covenant Center of Augusta, Ga. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. The pastor is the Rev. Dr. Steven L. Butterfield Sr.


SCSU offers tax assistance

South Carolina SC State University’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which offers free tax assistance to qualifying individuals, gets underway during the month of February.
Through the VITA program, trained community volunteers help with special credits, such as earned income tax credit, child tax credit and credit for the elderly and disabled.


SRNL names new director

Wendolyn Holland has joined Savannah River Nuclear Solutions as Director of Strategic Development and Technical Partnerships for Savannah River National Laboratory.  In this position, her responsibilities include the development of strategic programs and partnerships with public and private sector entities and with academic institutions.  She reports to the Office of the Laboratory Director.


Piper Elizabeth Raber - Birth

James L. and Meredith Raber are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Piper Elizabeth Raber. She was born Oct. 15, 2011 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center. She weighed seven pounds, five ounces and was 18.5 inches long.
Piper has two brothers, James Taylor Raber, 10, and Reese Paul Raber, 5, and one sister, Amy Michelle Raber, 9.
Paternal grandparents are Levi and Emma Raber of Ephrata, Pa.
Maternal grandparents are Ted and Darlene Paul of Mineral Wells, W.V.

Dr. and Mrs. Merrell C. Still Jr. of Barnwell are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Lauren Nicole Still to Martin Lee Croft. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gillie Michael Croft of Barnwell.
The bride elect is a 2007 graduate of Barnwell High School and a 2011 graduate of Presbyterian College. She is currently employed at Barnwell Academy.
The groom elect is a 2007 graduate of Barnwell High School. He is currently attending Orangeburg Technical College.


Boyle, Price - Engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Thomas Boyle are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Amanda Hope Boyle to Jacob Lee Price. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lynn Price of Barnwell.
The bride elect is a 2009 graduate of Aiken High School. She is currently employed at Barnwell Academy.
The groom elect is a 2008 graduate of Barnwell High School. He is currently employed at Horsehead Corporation.
The wedding is planned for 2 p.m. March 18, 2012, at the Hopeland Gardens in Aiken.
