Staff reports

Don't forget to clock in Sunday night -- not for work, but when daylight-saving time changes again.
Officially, clocks should be set ahead one hour at 2 a.m., Sunday morning, March 14, which will make it 3 a.m.

Most people change their clocks before retiring for the evening.

The hour lost this coming Sunday will be regained Nov. 7 when clocks are set back 60 minutes.

Beginning in 1987, daylight-saving time began with the first Sunday in April and ended with the last Sunday in October.

The church has been running a soup kitchen ministry for about five years to feed the area hungry, said Angie Boyles, a church member and former church elder.

With two children in the district, Chad Perry knows that the decisions the Barnwell 45 school board makes can affect not only its students, but his family.

Renee Geter is tired of seeing South Carolina at the bottom of the education line-up.

Geter is one of four candidates running for the two open seats on the Barnwell 45 school board this time. The candidates include Dewayne Eubanks, Rhett Richardson and incumbent Chad Perry.

Geter, 43, noticed her home state seemed to always bring up rear of the nation's 50 states in terms of academic performance, she said.
