Blacksmithing Demo

Come out to Barnwell State Park on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. to witness an exciting blacksmith demonstration and learn about the history of blacksmithing. You will also learn about outdoor cooking. All ages welcome to this free event.

Stephens, Black announce engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stephens of Darlington are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Elizabeth Stephens, to Timothy Burnette Black. He is the son of Mr. Burnette Black and the late Mrs. Shirley Black of Barnwell.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wade Flowers of Darlington and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marley Stephens of Lumberton, N.C.

She is a graduate of James F. Byrnes Academy as well as the University of South Carolina. She is employed by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division in Columbia as a forensic technician.

Ava Lynn Croft born on Oct. 20, 2017

Chad Croft and April Whitehead of Barnwell are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Ava Lynn Croft.

She was born at 9:59 p.m. on October 20, 2017 at Aiken Regional Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 ¾ inches long.

Paternal grandparents are Jodie and Doug Croft of Barnwell.

Maternal grandparents are Sharon and Jerry Whitehead of Barnwell.

Paternal great-grandparents are Jeaneece and Buddy Darnell, and Betty and Oneal Croft, all of Barnwell.

Williams, Black announce engagement

Mrs. Missy Grubbs Cato and Mr. Mark Cato of Barnwell are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of Mrs. Cato’s daughter, Corrie Michelle Williams, to Joseph Allen Black. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sean McIndoe of Barnwell.

The bride-elect is currently employed by Edward Jones Investments of Barnwell.

The groom-elect is employed with B&B Ford of Barnwell.

The wedding is planned for March 17, 2018 in Beaufort.

Homecomings

Macedonia Baptist Church (3572 Dexter Street, Blackville) will have their Homecoming/Friends and Family Day on Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Tabernacle Baptist Church (3076 Dexter Street, Blackville) will hold its annual homecoming service on Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. Speaker will be Dr. Shawn Johnson, superintendent of Barnwell District 19. Dinner will be served.

Imani JaNiya Jones turns 2

Imani JaNiya Jones celebrated her second birthday on September 10, 2017.

Imani JaNiya Jones is the daughter of Victor and Wanda Jones of Blackville.

She has one brother, Bryson Jared Jones.

EllaKay Folk born on Oct. 4, 2017

Justin and Megan Folk of Williston are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, EllaKay Olivia Folk.

EllaKay was born at 7:50 a.m. on October 4, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. She weighed 9 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

She has two brothers, Hutson and Breed Folk.

Ivy Kate Gray born on Sept. 30, 2017

Jonathan and Dana Gray of Barnwell are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Ivy Kate Gray.

She was born at 8:35 p.m. on September 30, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center. She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Zuri Sheallah Santana Francois born on Sept. 5, 2017

Latoya Simpson and Evens Francois are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Zuri Sheallah Santana Francois.

She was born at 4:24 p.m. on September 5, 2017 at Aiken Regional. She weighed 10 pounds, 1 ounce and was 21 inches long.

She has one brother, Ethan Cartier Thomas Francois.

Paternal grandparents are Elise Joseph and the late Robinson Francois of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Maternal grandparents are Thomas and Wanda Simpson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and the late Sheallah Alvin of Blackville.

Mr. & Mrs. Heider celebrate 50 years

Fred and Annette (Gibson) Heider celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 26, 2017 at a favorite restaurant hosted by their children and family.

The couple was married in Barnwell on August 26, 1967.

Fred and Annette have three children, Angela Gantt (Todd) of Barnwell, Rev. Russell Heider (Tonya) of Bonneau, S.C. and Valerie Watts (Jason) of Fayette, Ala. They have also been blessed with 8 grandchildren: Shelby Morris (Bryson), Lindsey Gantt (fiancée Ross Nettles), Keri Gantt, Austin, Kristin & Emily Grace Heider, and Robert & Brian Watts.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Todd Gantt of Barnwell are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lindsey Michelle Gantt, to Ross Allen Nettles. He is the son of Mr. Sandy Nettles of Williston and Mrs. Dee Hudgens of Greenwood.

The bride-elect is a 2012 graduate of Barnwell High School and 2016 graduate of Charleston Southern University. She is currently employed at Alston Bailey Elementary School in Summerville.

The bride-elect is the maternal granddaughter of Fred and Annette Heider and paternal granddaughter of the late Judson and Jean Gantt.

He was born at 2:15 p.m. on August 17, 2017 in Aiken. He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Mrs. Stephanie Hoyer of Aiken and Mr. Donnie Wall of Hilda are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Britney N. Wall, to Jesse Burleson. He is the son of James and Janet Burleson of Orangeburg.

The bride-elect is a 2016 graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. She is currently employed as a nurse at Barnwell Pediatrics.

She is the granddaughter of Becky Wall and the late Deanie Wall of Olar.

He was born at 8:25 a.m. on August 22, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Mr. & Mrs. Platt celebrate 60 years

Charles and Harriett Platt of Olar celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 23, 2017.

They were married on August 23, 1957.

Mr. and Mrs. Platt have two children, Ricky Platt of Arlington, Va. and Pam (Don) Williams of Barnwell.

They have four grandchildren: Brett Williams, Sara Platt, Libby Platt and Charlie Platt.

Wylder James Adams - BIRTH

Logan and Christy Adams of Barnwell are proud to announce the birth of their son, Wylder James Adams.

He was born at 12 a.m. on June 27, 2017 at ARMC. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 ¾ inches long.

Wylder has one brother, Keegan Zissett.

Paternal grandparents are Tim and Nita Adams and Bobby and Rita Crocker of Allendale.

Maternal grandparents are Curtis and Trina Rountree of Barnwell.

Christy Lynn Rountree of Barnwell and Timothy “Logan” Adams of Barnwell were united in marriage on October 9, 2016 at Barnwell State Park. The Rev. David Porter (notary) officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Curtis Rountree and son Keegan Zissett.

The bride’s dress was ivory and nude lace with a plunging neckline and edged in layers of tulle ruffles.

The bride carried a bouquet of Gerbera daisies, hydrangeas and baby’s-breath.

Mr. & Mrs. Pender celebrate 50 years

Donnie and Sandy (Seay) Pender of Barnwell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 13, 2017. They were honored with a surprise celebration on August 12, 2017 hosted by their family.

The couple was married in Barnwell on August 13, 1967.

They have two sons, Bru (Ashley) Pender of Lexington, SC and Britt (Ashley) Pender of Barnwell; two daughters, Daphne (Donald) Walters and Paige (Travis) Black, all of Barnwell.
