Elko Farmers Market opening May 21, seeks vendors
Vendor applications are being accepted for the 2016 season of the Elko Farmers Market. Farmers, market gardeners, crafters and home bakers are invited to join the market.
This year’s opening day is Saturday, May 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market will open every Saturday (weather permitting) until mid-fall, and is located across from the post office, on Hwy 78 in Elko.
The Elko Farmers’ Market supports the concept of buying and selling locally when possible. Items sold are usually grown, raised or handcrafted within a 50-mile radius. WIC Vouchers and Senior Checks are accepted.
The market will continue to promote healthy eating habits for children with the ‘Kid’s POP Club. Kids from 5 to 12 receive a free $2 token to spend every time they come to the market; new members receive a large POP Club tote bag to hold their purchases and a POP Club button. POP stands for the “POWER of PRODUCE”!
The market is seeking vendors with spring produce. As the summer progresses, customers look for a variety of fruits and vegetables. Crafters and bakers are also welcome.
