Farmers Markets
Elko: The Elko Farmers Market is open every Saturday (weather permitting) until mid-fall, and is located across from the post office, on Hwy 78 in Elko. The Elko Farmers’ Market supports the concept of buying and selling locally when possible. Items sold are usually grown, raised or handcrafted within a 50-mile radius. WIC Vouchers and Senior Checks are also accepted.

Barnwell: The Fuller Park Farmers Market is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fuller Park in Barnwell. Vendors are being sought. It is free to sell, but there are stipulations about what can be sold.

Theatre Summer Camp Performances
The Circle Theatre Summer Camp performances will be as follows:
Week 1 - The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza: Performances are Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 16 at 3 and 6 p.m.
Week 2 - Disney’s 101 Dalmatians (Kids): Performances are Friday, July 22 at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 23 at 3 and 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 24 at 3 p.m.

Tickets may also be purchased at Evelyn’s on the Circle in Barnwell. Ticket prices for both weeks are $10/adults, $5/kids.
Reservations are required as there is limited seating. If you purchase your tickets online or in person at Evelyn’s your reservation will be automatically confirmed. 
 
Summer Feeding Program
Barnwell & Blackville: The Summer Feeding Program will operate at seven sites for lunch in Barnwell and Blackville school districts from 11 a.m. to noon and five sites for breakfast. The program runs Monday through Thursday until July 28. Sites serving breakfast and lunch are Barnwell Elementary, Barnwell High, Macedonia Elementary, Blackville-Hilda High and the YMCA. Lunch only will be served at the Litchfield Apartment complex and Barnwell Arms Apartment complex. 
Williston: The Summer Food Program at Kelly Edwards Elementary School in Williston starts on June 6 and ends July 28. It will run Monday thru Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., except for the week of July 4-8. They will deliver lunch at Lincoln Park, West Main Apartments (Sugar Hill), and St. Peter’s Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to noon. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
 
State Park Events
The following events will take place at the Barnwell State Park during the month of July. The park office is open 11 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5 p.m. Contact the park’s staff at (803) 284 -2212 or Barnwellsp@scprt.com
•July 2: Build a Bird House. Cost is $7/participant. From 10-11 a.m. at Shelter 3.
•July 3: Tye-Dye T-Shirts. Cost is $5/participant. From 2-3 p.m. at the Picnic Pads behind office.   
•July 4: Hike with a Ranger. Meet at Park Office. 9:30-11 a.m.  
 
Summer Movie Series
The Barnwell County YMCA (660 Joey Zorn Boulevard, Barnwell) will have a summer movie series on the lawn on the following Saturdays: July 16 and August 13. Movie starts at dusk. Movie is free to YMCA members and their guests. Bring chairs and a blanket.

Allendale Food Pantry
Trinity Church of God Ministries (1490 Bay Street, Allendale) has partnered with Golden Harvest Food Bank and will open a community food pantry for Allendale County residents. Distribution will be once a month. Applications will be taken Wednesday, June 29 from 6-7 p.m. The first distribution is Thursday, June 30 from 6-8 p.m. First come, first served.
 
First Friday in Allendale
The First Friday Committee and Town of Allendale presents Allendale First Friday every first Friday from July to October. The first one will be Friday, July 1 from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Community Center and Farmer’s Market. There will be BINGO at 3 p.m., gospel music at 4 p.m., teen hour at 5 p.m., movie from 7 to 9 p.m. and live entertainment from 6 to 10 p.m. There will also be a fireworks show.

Free Breakfast
Due to the poor response for individuals to sign up for the upcoming breakfast sponsored by Pastor Pamela Richards, it is rescheduled for the July 12. Any senior interested in the breakfast must sign up by calling Pastor Richards at 803-571-2735. Signups need to be done by no later than July 2.
 
Youth Empowerment Summer Camp
Trinity Outreach Ministries will hold a youth empowerment camp July 5-August 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Extended hours are available. Spaces are limited. Includes scholastic hands-on activities, breakfast and lunch, field trips and academic enrichment. Enrollment packets are available at the Barnwell location (47 Allen Street) or by calling (803) 621-2412 for appointment after 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
 
Independence Day Celebration 
The City of Barnwell’s Independence Day celebration will be held Friday, July 1 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Barnwell. There will be music by the Colston Branch Band, food, fun and fireworks. Tune in to 90.5 FM within half mile of the park to listen to the music and fireworks. 
 
Swallow-tailed Kite Outing
Lower Savannah River Alliance’s third annual Swallow-tailed Kite Outing will be July 23 at 12049 Burton’s Ferry Hwy., Allendale. Registration will be available soon. 
 
 
FUNDRAISERS
 
Yard Sale
A gigantic yard sale to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Carolina will be held at the Allendale-Fairfax unit (172 Lee Street, Fairfax) on July 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Memorial Golf Tournament
The 9th Annual Steve Kodman Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Child Advocacy Center will be held Monday, August 29 at the Woodside Plantation Country Club in Aiken. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with shotgun start at 9 a.m. Fee is $100/person or $400/team. Style is captain’s choice. Mulligan packs are $10 for two mulligans and two raffle tickets or $20 for two mulligans and five tickets. Lunch and cold beverages are included.

Barnwell Academy will have its annual golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday, September 24 at Sweetwater Country Club in Barnwell. Sponsors and players are being sought.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION
 
Barnwell Elementary School
Please stop by Barnwell Elementary School to register your child/children for the 2016-17 school year during the following times: Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be no registration fees for the 2016-17 school year. If you have not picked up your child’s report card for the 2015-16 school year, please stop by the main office.
 
Barnwell High School
Barnwell High School will have registration on the following days from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. by class: freshmen on Monday, August 1, sophomores on Tuesday, August 2, juniors on Wednesday, August 3, and seniors on Thursday, August 4. 
Parking fees ($25) and outstanding balances may be paid at this time. All fees must be paid in order to park on campus. Freshmen are not allowed to drive to school. Seniors have the option to personalize their parking space for an additional $25. Fees must be paid with cash or money order. 
Summer hours for the guidance office are as follows: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 5, 12, 19 and 26 and August 2. The guidance office will return on August 2. Students new to District 45 can register on August 3 and 4.

Barnwell Library
Summer Reading is underway at the Barnwell County Public Library, Blackville Branch Library, and Williston Branch Library. Children in grades 5 and under can sign up to read 10 books or more this summer to receive a prize pack. Teens can choose one of our reading challenges to receive a prize pack.

Barnwell Soccer Club
The Barnwell Soccer Club will host an Open Meeting on July 7 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Barnwell County Library located on Burr Street. The meeting is open to the public.
Allendale County Council
Allendale County Council Public Hearing and Regular Meeting is Thursday, July 21 at 6 p.m. at the J.W. Wall Jr.’s Council Chambers at the Allendale County Courthouse.   
 
 
SPORTS
 
JDA Cheerleading Camp
The Jefferson Davis Academy Varsity and JV cheerleaders will host their annual cheer clinic for grades K3-5th. Clinic will take place July 25-28 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $55 per participant.

Barnwell High Classes of 1970s
All graduates of Barnwell High School between 1970 and 1979 are invited to Sweetwater Country Club for a reunion on August 20 at 7 p.m.
