Circle Theatre Youth Camp
Registration is underway for Circle Theatre’s youth summer camp. Either the full registration fee of $100/student or a $50 deposit must accompany the registration form to ensure your child’s place in the camp. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for a form.
Betty Bohmer is returning as the camp director and she has specially selected the following productions (both musicals): Week 1 (14-18-year-olds): July 10 - 16 will be doing “Once on This Island Jr”. Week 2 (8-13-year-olds) July 17 - 23 will be doing “Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS”.
Auditions for the production’s principle roles will be held on Saturday, May 13 at the Circle Theatre, 325 Academy Street, Barnwell.
Rabies Clinics will be held at the following locations with veterinarian Dr. Givens-McHenry: April 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Williston Fire Department, and 1 to 4 p.m. at the Elko Fire Department.
The Bunny Brunch will be held at Barnwell County Library on Saturday, April 1 at 10 a.m. Cost is $6 per child. Register at Barnwell City Hall by Wednesday, March 29. Space is limited so register early. Come enjoy photos, food, crafts and fun with the Easter Bunny.
Civil War Trust Day
Civil War Trust Day will be held on Saturday, April 1 at Rivers Bridge State Historical Site in Ehrhardt. Meet at the Community Building at 9 a.m. for the morning activities. Dr. Wise will speak at the community building at 3 p.m.
If you are interested in volunteering to help with beautification of this Historical Site, you can arrive anytime from 9 a.m. to noon and receive a free volunteer T-shirt. Free hot dogs and chips will be served for lunch and following lunch they will have a horseshoe tournament from 1-3 p.m. They are going to offer a Scavenger Hunt for the kids during volunteer hour, along with a Junior Ranger Program to be given to children 6 years old and up.
Edisto River Canoe/Kayak Trip
The next South Fork of the Edisto River Canoe/Kayak River Trip is Sunday, April 2 at 12:30 p.m. This trip is about 6 miles. Free shuttle service provided. Meet at Zig Zag Landing (1749 Zig Zag Landing Road off of Farrells Road between Hwy. 78 and Hwy. 61) at 12:15 p.m.
Bring your own boat & gear (life jacket and whistle are required by law).
They will travel to Smoke on the Water, which is from 3-6 p.m. on Marvin’s Road in Bamberg County. There will be fun, live music, river access, children’s activities, and food. This is free for Friends of the Edisto members or $10 for non-members.

BINGO will be held every first Thursday at the Allendale Community Center starting April 6 from 6-8 p.m. Other dates are June 2, July 7 and August 4. It is hosted by Minister Pookie Smith and Gwen Walker.
Allendale County Spring Fest
The Allendale County Spring Fest will be held Friday, April 7 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Allendale Community Center & Farmer’s Market. There will be karaoke, food and music. Vendors are welcome. Bring lawn chairs. Entertainment: 5 p.m. Gospel, 8 p.m. Kids Movie Night, and live entertainment by Andy Kearse and Bryan Lindell.

Easter Egg Hunts
BARNWELL: The City of Barnwell’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Lemon Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8. The event is free for children who are toddlers to age 12. The hunt will take place on multiple fields and children will be separated into appropriate age groups.
BLACKVILLE: The Blackville Easter Egg Hunt will be April 15 at 3 p.m. at Maloney Field.
LONG BRANCH: The Long Branch Fire Department’s Easter Egg Hunt and Fire Safety Day will be Saturday, April 8 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department. The egg hunt will be at 12:30 p.m. There will also be food, obstacle course, bouncy houses, door prizes, Easter baskets, and lots of fun.
WILLISTON: The Town of Williston Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Williston Town Park on Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m. Age groups will be 3 and under, 4-6 and 7-10. For more info, contact Shannon Mundy at 803-300-1912.
YMCA: The Barnwell County Family YMCA Easter Egg Hunt will be April 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 18 months to 12 years old.
Taste of Blackville
The 11th Annual Taste of Blackville will be held Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Blackville. It is sponsored by the Blackville Downtown Development Association. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
The Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons will present Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on April 20 at 6 p.m. in Williston. This is an international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Check-in will be at 5:45 p.m. on the walking trail on Main Street.

Springfest Beauty Pageant
The 2017 Miss/Master Springfest Beauty Pageant in honor of the Allendale County “Cooter” Festival will be held April 29 at the B&G Civic Center (4015 Allendale/Fairfax Hwy., Allendale). Supreme Package is $60 (Beauty, Spring Wear, best hair, eyes, smile). There are various age groups for boys and girls. Wear any dress/tux of choice, but natural rules will be followed for hair/makeup.

Arts Council Membership Event
The Barnwell County Arts Council will hold its annual membership event featuring the Flat Out Strangers on Thursday, March 30 at the EL BAB Shrine Club in Barnwell from 6-8:30 p.m. Join the Arts Council for hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, American gypsy swing music and dancing.

Easter Egg Hunt for Animal Shelter
An Easter Egg Hunt for The Barnwell County Animal Shelter will be held Saturday, April 1 from 1–3 p.m. at Fuller Park on Dunbarton Boulevard in Barnwell. An egg hunt will be done per age group (walking to age 10). There will also be face painting, cake walk, pictures with the Easter bunny and some of the furry shelter friends.
Come hop on out and bring your baskets to our fundraiser. $5 donation per child. Everyone is welcome with all proceeds going to the Barnwell County Animal Shelter.
They are seeking donations of plastic Easter eggs.

Kelly Edwards Elementary 4K&5K
4K and 5K Registration at Kelly Edwards Elementary will be held from April 3-14 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day.
Please bring the following: South Carolina Immunization Record, Official Birth Certificate (no short form birth certificate), Two Required Proofs of Residency (1 must be a Current Tax Notice or Lease/Mortgage Agreement and the other item can be any proof that shows a physical address such as but not limited to the following: Current power bill, water bill, satellite/cable bill, automobile tax/automobile registration card), Medicaid card (4K only) and Proof of income such as paycheck stub or W2 (4K only).
Your child must be 4 years on or before Sept. 1, 2017 to register for 4-year-old kindergarten. Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2017 to register for 5-year-old kindergarten.
Barnwell Lions Club Scholarship
The Barnwell Lions Club will be offering scholarships to selected Barnwell County graduating seniors who will be furthering their education through colleges or technical schools this year. The value of the scholarships will range from $250 to $750. Recipients will be chosen by the Barnwell Lions Club Scholarship Committee based on need, grades, community service and extracurricular activities.
Those Barnwell County graduating seniors desiring to apply may pick up an application from their high school guidance counselor, or may call the following Lions for information: T.O. Sanders at 259-3469 or Dan Packer at 259-3912. Deadline for applying is April 10.
New Jerusalem CDC 4K
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Child Development Center is now enrolling 4K students for the 2017-2018 school year. Students must be four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017. Applications are available at the center located at 9303 Marlboro Avenue, Barnwell.

Allendale County School Board
The Allendale County School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday, March 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the district office to discuss personnel/contractual matters.
Barnwell Co. Voter Registration
The Barnwell County Voter Registration and Election Board meets the second Monday (April 10) of the month at 6 p.m. in the conference room at election office.
Barnwell County GOP
The Barnwell County Republican Party’s 2017 County Convention will be Monday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Barnwell County Courthouse. Business will include the election of County Republican Officers and the selection of delegates and alternates to the Republican Party State Convention.
