Young women traveled from all regions of South Carolina to compete in the annual Miss Blue Fire beauty pageant on March 4 at the Williston-Elko School District auditorium.

In addition to the traditional beauty pageant gown, the girls utilized their creativity by dressing up in 1980s-style theme wear or showing support for the Blue Fire Drum Line by wearing a blue outfit of choice. The crowd of approximately 100 spectators was treated to a highly entertaining performance by the Blue Fire Drum Line during the intermission period.

The Miss Blue Fire beauty pageant is a fundraising event for the Blue Fire Drum Line.

The Blue Fire Drum Line is under the direction of band director Mark Romano with additional instruction provided by Percussion Instructor Kent Hannibal. High school senior McKayla Ryneer is the Percussion Captain. The Blue Fire Drum Line is comprised of students from 6th to 12th grade. These talented musicians are frequently invited to participate in parades across South Carolina and Georgia.
