Book Giveaways 
Barnwell District 45 is holding book giveaways on the following dates: June 22 and July 25 at the Barnwell YMCA, July 11 at Barnwell Primary School, July 27 at Litchfield Recreation Building, and July 13 at Barnwell Arms Apartments. Each event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at noon. 
AARP Driver Safety 
AARP Driver Safety will hold their next class Thursday, June 22 at Generations Unlimited (11403 Ellenton St., Barnwell). Class will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may bring a snack to have during class.
The cost for class materials is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, cash or check (payable to AARP). Completion of this class may result in a discount on the participant’s automobile insurance.

Food Giveaway 
Angel Wings Food Giveaway will be Saturday, June 24 from 9 to 11 a.m. at 150 Charles Street in Barnwell. First time applicants must bring ID.

‘A Day in the Country’ 
A Day in the Country will be held on June 24 at 12935 Hwy. 278, Barnwell (one mile west of Barnwell Airport). Admission is free. The event will feature Bear and Friends. DJ and open mic will be from 1 to 3 p.m. with live band starting at 3 p.m. Bring your own tents, chairs and coolers for an afternoon of your favorite music. Concession stands will be available. In the event of rain, festivities will be moved inside.

Homeownership Fair 
With June being Homeownership Month, Allendale County ALIVE, Inc. will sponsor a Homeownership Fair on Thursday, June 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the James Brandt Building Auditorium in Allendale. Speakers will include Lenders, Legal Services, Inspectors, Appraisers, Foreclosure Specialists, and other informational services related to homeownership. Also, learn about how you can start a savings account and receive matching funds, home repairs, and your rights as a Landlord/Tenant. Light refreshments will be served.

Edisto River Trip 
Celebrate the 4th by decorating canoes and kayaks for the South Fork of the Edisto River Canoe/Kayak trip on Saturday, July 1. Boat decorating is optional, but you can use flags and other patriotic symbols.  This trip is about 8 miles and is not recommended for beginners due to the length. Shuttling will begin at 9 a.m. with boat launch at 9:30 a.m. at Ness Landing (Binnicker Bridge Rd. (State Hwy. 70). Take-out at Bobcat Landing/U.S. Hwy. 301 (88 Bobcat Landing Rd. Bamberg). 
Bring your own boat & gear. Life jacket & whistle are required by law.

Belated Father’s Day Event 
The S.C. Regional Housing Authority #3 and Beaufort Housing Authority are partnering to host the annual Belated Father’s Day Event on Friday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barnwell Elementary School (10524 Marlboro Ave., Barnwell). The theme is “Building Healthy Families”. They are soliciting local government, all agencies, Faith-Based Organizations, Law Enforcement Departments, Alzheimer Association,  Doctors, Lawyers, etc. to partner with them.

Historical Church Tour 
The Barnwell County Museum is presenting a tour of several historical churches and cemeteries on Saturday, June 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tour guides for churches and cemeteries will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tours of the museum will be given from 2-5 p.m. 
Advance tickets are available for $9 each at Evelyn’s Fine Gifts on The Circle. On the day of the tour, tickets will be available for $10 at the Barnwell County Museum beginning at 9:30 am. As a part of this fundraiser, lunch will be served at the museum for $10 per person on Saturday, June 24. All interested persons are invited to support the museum and learn more about the interesting history of Barnwell County.

Blackville Planning Commission
The Town of Blackville Planning Commission will hold their regular quarterly meeting on Thursday, June 22 at 4 p.m. in the courtroom at Town Hall (5983 Lartigue Street, Blackville).
Barnwell Co. First Steps

• Teen Anime & Manga Club: Thursday, June 29 from 7-8:30 p.m. Share in the love of Japanese comics and animation. All teens in grades 7-12 are welcome. Snacks provided.
• Friday Family Movies: Every other week we will be showing a family movie on Friday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. with free popcorn and drink. All ages are welcomed; children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Movies are: “Monster Trucks” on June 23
• LEGO Club: Third Wednesday (June 21) of the month at 3 p.m. Join us for LEGO fun…bring your imagination we will provide the rest. For grades K-5th only.

• Tech Help Tuesdays: Tuesday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. Come by the library with your personal devices (laptop, tablet, kindle, phone, etc.) and learn about the digital services the library has to offer and more.
