Anniversary Services
  • Revelation Ministries (9205 Buford’s Bridge Hwy., Fairfax) will celebrate their 19th anniversary July 5-7 at 7 p.m. nightly. Speakers are: Pastor James Rowson of Columbia on Wednesday, Dr. TL Penny of Sumter on Thursday. A Friday night concert will feature John Lakin and Bow of Columbia, Nykki Smalls of Varnville, The Chosen Ones of Columbia, The Gospel Warriors of Aiken, and Grateful of Fairfax. 
  • Shrub Branch Baptist Church in Blackville will celebrate the 18th pastoral anniversary honoring Rev. McKinley (Gwendolyn) Neal on July 9 at 3 p.m. Speaker will be Rev. Anthony Moore. 
  • Great Cypress Baptist Church (Highway 37) will celebrate its 132nd church anniversary on Sunday, July 9 beginning at 10 a.m. with Sunday school. Guest speaker will be Pastor General Hay Jr. of Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hilton Head. Dinner will be served.
  • St. Peter Baptist Church in Elko will hold their Ushers Anniversary on July 16 at 3 p.m.
Deacon Ordination
  • St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (733 St. Paul Road) cordially invites one and all to the Deacon Ordination Service of Brother Jeffery Andre Gaines on Saturday, July 8 at 3 p.m. 
Special Services
  • Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church (187 Ned Branch Ave., Barnwell) will have a 3-Speaker Program on Sunday, July 9 at 1:15 p.m. Speakers are: Evangelist Patricia Dunbar, Minister Maxine Gordon and Brother Andre Patrick. 
  • Beulah United Church Apostolic in Williston will have a Packing the Pews service on July 9 at 4 p.m. with Overseer Telly Hardy as the speaker. 
  • St. Peter Baptist Church in Elko will hold a Testimony Service on July 9 at 3 p.m.
  • Greater Faith Fellowship (179 Calhoun Street, Barnwell) will sponsor their 2017 Holy Convocation July 13-14 at 7 p.m. nightly. On Saturday, July 15, workshops begin at 10 a.m. The public is invited to experience praise and worship, mime dancing, praise dancing, preaching, and much more.   • St. Peter Baptist in Elko will have a Pack-A-Pew Program on July 23 at 3 p.m.
Women’s Weekend
  • The Women’s Ministries of Second Baptist Church of Barnwell extends an invitation to all women in the area to join attend their Women’s Weekend of Worship on July 15 & 16. On Saturday, July 15, they will have Ladies Prayer Breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Patricia Wright of Calidonia Baptist Church of Batesburg. Then at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 16, they will celebrate the Annual Women’s Day Program! Message will be brought by Rev. Teresa Gambrell of Jordan Baptist Church of Barnwell.   • Eddie Williams Jr. and Hutto Chapel Baptist (150 Hutto Chapel Road, Barnwell) will have their Annual Summer Revival July 2-7. On Sunday, July 2, the service begins at 6 p.m. while services on July 3-7 begin at 7. Rev. Phil Thomas & Rev. Reginald Mixon will be the guest speakers.
  • Ebenezer Baptist (3670 Legion Road, Blackville) will have its summer revival July 3-7 at 7 p.m. Rev. Sims Murray of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Ridge Spring will be the guest revivalist. 
  • Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (Hwy. 70, Barnwell) will have its annual Summer Revival July 5-7 at 7 p.m. nightly. Revivalists for the three nights will be (Wednesday) Rev. Dr. Herman Wallace, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Blackville; (Thursday) Rev. Harris T. Barker, pastor of New Home Baptist Church in Barnwell; and (Friday) Rev. Sanka Davis, pastor of Rome Baptist Church in Denmark.
  • Long Branch Missionary Baptist Church (922 Hopewell Road, Gifford) will have summer revival beginning Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m. It continues Monday, July 10 through Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest revivalists are: Rev. Johnny Bussey of New Zion Missionary Baptist of Seigling on Sunday, Rev. Christopher Holley of Four Mile Missionary Baptist of New Ellenton on Monday and Rev. Phillip Thomas of Second Baptist Church of Barnwell on Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • Macedonia Baptist Church (3572 Dexter St., Blackville) will have summer revival July 9-14. On Sunday, July 9 at 6 p.m. services begin with Rev. Eddie Williams of Hutto Chapel Baptist Church as speaker. Services on July 10-14 will begin at 7 p.m. with the speaker for the week being Bishop Bobby Jones.
  • Silver Spring Missionary Baptist Church (347 Woodrow Doby Road, Williston) will hold their annual revival Monday, July 10 to Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Douglas A. Slaughter, pastor of Second Baptist Church, Aiken, will deliver message. 
  • Bethany Missionary Baptist Church (Highway 3 North/9Levy Lane, Blackville) will hold their annual summer revival Tuesday, July 11 through Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m. nightly. Dr. Anthony Chavers, pastor of Agape Worship Center in Statesboro, Ga., will be guest speaker for the week. 
  • Union United Methodist Church in Kline will hold its annual summer revival July 12-14 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The theme is “Count Me In”. Message will be delivered by Rev. Dr. Bishop McArthur Sanders from Charlotte, N.C., although he is originally from Kline. The closing of the revival will be Sunday, July 16 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Warren Murdock Sr., Union UMC’s pastor, preaching. 
  • Runs Missionary Baptist Church (717 Williston Rd., Beech Island) will have Spring Revival beginning Monday, July 24 to Thursday, July 27. Revivalist will be Rev. Daniel Latimer, the pastor of St. Mark Baptist Church, Allendale, and The Kings Church, Augusta, Ga.
Marriage Seminar 
  • Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church (187 Ned Branch Ave., Barnwell) invites everyone, regardless of marital status, to a Marriage Seminar on Saturday, July 15 at 6 p.m.
Vacation Bible School
  • Word of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church (85 North Street, Bamberg) will have VBS July 10-14 from 7 to 9 p.m. ending with a Fun Day on July 15. The theme is “Maker Fun Factory”. All ages welcome! More details will be available on their website soon:
  • Life Tabernacle Church (361 Jackson Street, Barnwell) will have Vacation Bible School July 14 and 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and conclude on July 16 at 1 p.m. The theme is “Camp Out: Getting S’More of Jesus!” and it is for children ages 2-10. Snacks will be provided. No registration is required. 
  • Trinity Baptist Church (4721 Galilee Road, Barnwell) will have a one-day VBS on Saturday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Classes are for ages 0-99. Join them for a day of Bible study, crafts, fellowship, and fun.
  • Hilda Southern Methodist Church (228 Old Salem Road, Hilda) invites children to join them as they learn about Walking in the Way through their Jungle Safari VBS, which will be held Monday thru Wednesday, July 17-19 from 6-8 p.m. Refreshments will be served. VBS kicks off on Sunday, July 16 with a pool party at 500 Rainbow Drive, Barnwell. Hot dogs will be served. Please RSVP for the party at 259-1868.
  • True Faith Baptist (8446 Rivers Bridge Road, Olar) is having VBS July 16 to 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. nightly for preschool age children to teens. There will be music, games, crafts and more. The theme is “Deep Sea Discovery: God is With Me Wherever I Go”. Register at
