Recreation on Wheels
Recreation on Wheels is centered on bringing recreation programs to Lemon and Fuller parks. Children will participate in fun recreational activities, including arts and crafts, group initiatives and team building, water games, sports and more. Lunch is provided.
Monday dates are: July 24 and 31 at Lemon Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday dates are: July 20 and 27 at Fuller Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Theatre Youth Camp Plays
The younger children from Circle Theatre of Barnwell’s summer camp will present “Jungle Book KIDS” on Friday, July 21 at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 22 at 3 and 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 23 at 3 p.m.

State Park’s Ultimate Outsiderfest
Ultimate Outsiderfest will take place Thursday, July 20 through Monday, July 24. This is a five-day celebration of our 500-plus Ultimate Outsiders who have visited all 47 South Carolina State Parks.
Come out to Barnwell State Park to learn about the South Carolina State Park’s Ultimate Outsider Program.

Barnwell District 45 is holding book giveaways on the following dates: July 25 at the Barnwell YMCA and July 27 at Litchfield Recreation Building at 11 a.m.
Barnwell Food Giveaway
Angel Wings Food Giveaway will be Saturday, July 22 from 9-11 a.m at 150 Charles Street in Barnwell. First time applicants must bring ID.

Boyz2Men Meet & Greet
Boyz2Men, Inc. will accept applications until August 6 into its mentoring program for the 2017 fall session. The organization will also host an Open Enrollment/Greet and Meet event on July 22 from 10 a.m. until noon at Trinity Vision Center (47 Allen Street, Barnwell). Everyone is invited to come out and see how Boyz2Men, Inc., is trying to help make a difference in the lives of young men in the community and surrounding areas.
Swallow-Tailed Kite Outing
The Lower Savannah River Alliance’s 4th Annual Swallow-tailed Kite Outing is Saturday, July 22 in Allendale. Online registration is open: http://bit.ly/2rGZ0pT. The Swallow-tailed Kite, with its distinct black and white plumage, is one of the most elegant birds of the Americas.
Jim Elliott, the executive director and founder of the Avian Conservation Center in Awendaw, is guest speaker.
Check-in for the Kite Outing begins at 8:30 a.m. at the LSRA Education Center with a brief welcome at 9 before loading buses for the kite fields. After viewing the kites in flight, participants return to the center around 11:30 for the guest speaker, followed by lunch and closing remarks.
Blackville Community Event
Each One Reach One in Blackville is sponsoring a Bringing the Community Together event on July 23 from 4-7 p.m. at Maloney Field in Blackville. There will be free food, slip and slide, and the fire department will spray water. Kids need to wear bathing suits. Bring tents and chairs.

Nigel & The Favor Reunion Concert
Nigel & The Favor Ensemble will present their reunion weekend on Saturday, July 29 at the Blackville Community Center (19464 Solomon Blatt Ave., Blackville). This is a free event. Family Day will be held from 8 a.m. to noon with games, vendors, children’s fashion show, fellowship and refreshments. The reunion concert will be at 6 p.m.

Edisto River Trip
The Bamberg County Chamber of Commerce’s next South Fork of the Edisto River Canoe/Kayak River Trip is Saturday, July 29. Shuttling will begin at 9 a.m. with boat launch at 9:30 a.m. This trip is about 6 miles and will launch from Bobcat Landing (U.S. Hwy. 301/88 Bobcat Landing Rd. Bamberg).

Ready for hunting season? Join Barnwell Area Homeschoolers’ 4-H & Archery Club’s 3rd Annual Adjust Your Aim Archery Tournament on July 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sleytown Bowhunters’ Club (269 Pope & Young Road, off Reynolds Road, in Blackville). All ages are welcome. Categories include elementary, teens, women, traditional, compounds and teen compounds.
Entry fee is $5 for children 18 and under and $10 for adults (19 and up). Refreshments will be sold.

Walmart in Barnwell will hold a free Back-to-School Bash on July 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be prizes, music, food, fashion show and games.
Kline Backpack Giveaway
The Town of Kline will sponsor its 5th annual backpack giveaway on Saturday, August 5 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Kline Fire Department, located at the caution light in Kline.

Williston Back to School Bash
The 4th Annual Unity in the Community Back to School Bash will be held on Sunday, August 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Williston-Elko High School. Prayer will be held at 3:45 p.m. at the flag pole. There will be school supplies, fellowship, popcorn, snow cones and more. This is sponsored by the Williston-Elko CommUNITY Coalition.
McDonald’s Family Fun Day
McDonald’s in Barnwell will hold a free Back-to-School Family Fun Day on August 10 at 2 p.m. while supplies last.
Blackville Back to School Bash
The Blackville Community Back-to-School Bash will be held on August 12 at the Crystal Jenkins Memorial Walking Track area from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All Blackville-Hilda High School alumni are asked to get involved.
Barnwell High School
Registration is underway for the 2017-2018 school year at Barnwell High from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following days: Monday, July 31 for freshmen, Tuesday, August 1 for sophomores, Wednesday, August 2 for juniors and Thursday, August 3 for seniors. New students register on August 3.
Parking decal is $25. Seniors have option to personalize their parking space for additional $25. All fees must be paid with cash or money order.
Summer hours for guidance are as follows: 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on July 25 and August 1. Guidance office returns on August 2.
Guinyard-Butler Middle School
Guinyard-Butler Middle School will hold registration for the 2017-2018 school year as follows: August 2-4 for new students to the district (What to bring: proof of residency, copy of withdrawal form from previous school, copy of last report card, social security card); August 7 is for seventh graders; August 8 is for eighth grade students; and August 9 is for anyone unable to register during designated times. Seventh grade orientation will be on August 13 at 4 p.m.
The Second Annual Boyz2Men Beat Da Streetz Basketball Tournament will be July 28-29 at Guinyard-Butler Middle School (779 Allen Street, Barnwell). Entry fee is $125 per team.
Shrine Club Bike Rally
The El BAB Shrine Club’s Fall Bike Rally will be Saturday, August 5. This is a fundraiser to raise money for burned and crippled children who seek medical help at Shriner’s Hospitals.
First bike out from El BAB (571 Patterson Mill Road, Barnwell) will be at 10 a.m. with last bike in at 5 p.m.
Cost is $15/rider and $10 per passenger. Fee includes poker hand and meal at end of ride.

Hagood to Haiti Fun Run
The Hagood to Haiti Fun Run with Color is August 5 at 8 a.m. at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church in Barnwell to raise money for their mission trip to Haiti. Registration starts at 7 a.m. The cost is $30.
FBC Barnwell Bargain Sale
First Baptist Church will hold another “Bargain Sale” to benefit the “Elevator Fund” on August 11, 12 and 18 and 19. There will be lots of merchandise, including clothes, housewares, furniture, tools, appliances, collectibles, antiques and much, much more.
A baseball tournament will be held Saturday, August 12 at 8 a.m. at the Lemon Park Complex in Barnwell to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association to give hope, strength and a cure to children and adults fighting to live longer and stronger with muscle disease. The event is hosted by Stacey and Dylan Epps.
Entry fee of $250 per team (10-12 players) is due by Aug. 1.
