Blackville selects January yard

The residence of Jimmy Boylston on Carroll Street, Blackville, was selected January’s Yard of the Month by the Blackville Garden Club. A row of orange and purple potted Pansies line each side of the walkway and in front of the porch are green Boxwoods. Two deep red Crape Myrtle trees were planted by a local nursery two years ago and provide the front view of the yard.
Boylston, who has been involved with container gardening since retiring from the Department of Social Services in 2003, plants Salvia or Vinca for late spring and summer. He became interested in outdoor flower gardening about thirty years ago when, in an effort to give his disabled mother an outdoor interest, several flower beds were created and maintained.
