Oldies/Goldies Adult Party
The Brown’s Lounge and Together Sisters Club will sponsor a Oldies/Goldies adult party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3 at the Brown’s Lounge in Blackville. Admission will be $5. Proceeds will help provide community activities.

Back To School Party
The Brown’s Lounge and Together Sisters Club will sponsor a Back To School party on Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Brown’s Lounge in Blackville (formerly Club 78). Time: Pre-K – 6th grades – 3 to 5 p.m.; 7-12 grades 7-10 p.m. Admission is free. Food and school supplies will be given away.

N.A.A.C.P Freedom Fund Dinner
The Barnwell-Blackville Branch of the N.A.A.C.P. is planning their 15th annual freedom fund dinner. We are asking supporters to purchase a table for $300. This table will seat eight individuals. Individual tickets may be purchased at $15 each. The dinner will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 211 at the Blackville Community Center located at 19464 Solomon Blatt Avenue, Blackville. Old Allendale Highway Crime Watchers
Old Allendale Highway Crime Watchers will have the unveiling of it first new crime watch sign on Annie Laurie Drive at the entrance of Battle Creek Road, Barnwell at 6:30 pm., Friday, Aug. 20.

Barbershop Chorus to Serenade Community
Coming to the Barnwell County Library community room, the Garden City Chorus. Join in an evening of four-part barbershop harmony from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19. Free, but limited seating.

Circle Theatre Awards Night
Circle Theatre’s annual Awards Night celebration is being held Saturday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Barnwell County Museum. Join us for an evening of comedy performances, plus awards presentations for the past season, including I’ll Be Back Before Midnight, Dearly Departed, and Willy Wonka Jr. The slate of productions for the new season will be unveiled at this event. Don’t miss this chance to buy your discount season tickets for 2010-2011, because at-the-door prices will increase this year!  Admission is free, though donations will be accepted. Art With
A Heart Show
Over 20 WEll-known regional artists, including local favorites Christian Thee and Marcelo Novo, will Feature Their Masterpieces For Sale with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Rmhc Of Columbia. This event will take place from 5:30 P.M. To 8:30 P.M., Thursday, August 26, 2010  At 701 Center For Contemporary Art, 701 Whaley Street, Columbia.. 6th Annual Read and Romp Event

UCP of SC
Benefit Event
The United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina in conjunction with a benefit even will hold its annual 6th Cerebral Palsy benefit in loving memory of Richard A. Padgett and Kelby R. Stone 8 p.m. until on Sept. 10 at Lazy B’s in Ulmer. Proceeds will benefit the programs and services of UCP of South Carolina.

Help at Home
Help at Home is offering a program to help seniors with homemaking services that is funded by a grant from the State of South Carolina. It is of no cost to those who qualify. Grief Recovery Group-Barnwell County now has the opportunity to participate in a GRIEF Support group. This group will help weather the storms of death, divorce and overwhelming disappointments. Support groups
More Than Conquerors support group is held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Saturday at 223 Esther Street, Allendale, behind Hardees. Its focus is to help those in the community suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. The support group provides spiritual and mental aid along with other helpful measures. American Legion Post No. 75
The American Legion Post No. 75 will meet at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the American Legion Hut in Williston. A women’s auxiliary is also offered. All veterans are welcome.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous meets in Barnwell at 7 p.m. each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the small classroom behind First Baptist Church in Barnwell.  For support or assistance, call the state AA help line at (888) 534-0192.

Salkehatchie Vietnam Veterans
The Salkehatchie Chapter 828 of the Vietnam Veterans of America meets the second Thursday of each month at the American Legion Post 91 building on U.S. Hwy. 78 in Blackville. Veterans of all wars are encouraged to attend, and the public is welcome to all meetings.

Woodmen
of the World

Blackville Recreational
The Blackville recreational department announces fall football and cheerleader registrations through Aug. 25. Registration fees are $30 and forms can be filled out at Blackville Town Hall.
