Photo I.D. Event
The Barnwell County Voter Registration & Elections office will conduct a Photo ID event at the Blackville Town Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photo id's can be taken for Barnwell County residents who wish to have a photo id. There will be no charge for this id. These same services can also be provided Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Barnwell County Voter Registration & Elections office (34 Pechman St., Barnwell).
The Town of Blackville's election will be on Nov. 5. Please remember that you must provide a photo id in order to vote.
Hunter's Moon Festival
The 4th annual Hunter's Moon Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elko Farmers Market on Hwy. 78. It will include live music, hayrides, raffles, vendors and crafters, free pumkpin painting, food, vegetables for sale, and much more.

The Barnwell County Museum will host their annual Collectors' Day on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to exhibit their collections.

Corks & Cutouts
The Animal Advocates are hosting their third annual Corks fundraising event on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Art Studio. Participants will make a dog or cat door hanging using vinyl cutouts. It costs $40.

The Fairfax Library (corner of Hwy. 278 and Aiken Avenue in Fairfax) will host a yard sale fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 8 a.m. All proceeds go toward the library.
Bryan's Brigade is hosting fundraisers on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Veterans Park in Barnwell for the family of Bryan Eichman, who was recently diagnosed with cancer (Sarcoma). The Animal Advocates are helping because Eichman's son Nicholas is one of their junior volunteers.
Nicholas' Beagle Brigade Parade will be at held at the Veteran's Park (near the Barnwell Airport) beginning at 10 a.m. and will be led by Nicholas and his beagle Sandy. The entry fee is $5 per couple (one pet with one person). All pets are welcome.
A pet costume contest will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Nicholas as one of the judges. The entry fee is $5 per pet.
The Community Uplift Program (C.U.P) will host its 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The walk begins at the Williston Town Hall and proceeds down West Main Street to Crane and returns back downtown.
The event will include a short ceremony with survivor stories and informative medical information prior to the walk. This event is free and the community is encouraged to participate.

The Blackville Community Biannual Charity 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Crystal Jenkins Memorial Track (behind Macedonia Elementary School). Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Blackville Community Development Corporation.
Ages 10 and up may participate. It costs $10, which includes the entry fee or $20 for entry fee and T-shirt.

Longest Drive Golf
The Blackville Sixth Annual Longest Drive Golf Contest will be Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Blackville Golf Course. Longest Drive Categories: Men: 20 and over, Woman: 20 and over, Boys: 15-19, Girls: 15-19, Jr. Boys: 14 and under, and Jr. Girls: 14 and under.
There will also be children's activities, silent auction, face painting, raffle, refreshments, and music.
Sponsorship Levels: Platinum/$200 and above, Gold/$100 - $199.99, Silver/$50 - $99.99, Bronze/$25 - $59.99, and Pledges/Donations less than $25.

Join the Barnwell County Arts Council on Friday, Oct. 18, for "Serving Up Soup for the Arts." It will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Effie Mae Fuller Center (behind the Barnwell County Museum).
Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any Arts Council board member, Evelyn's on the Circle, or by contacting the Arts Council at firstname.lastname@example.org. Lunch will be eat-in or carry-out and will include soup, crackers and dessert.
Day in the Country 5K
Team Zeta will hold A Day in the Country 5K race on Saturday, Oct. 26 beginning and ending at Twitty's Mud Bog (Hwy. 321 between Ulmer and Sycamore). Proceeds will support Team Zeta as they support special needs children and their families. Costumed runners and decorated strollers and wheelchairs are encouraged to attend the 5K at 9 a.m.
Registration is $20 through Oct. 20 (includes T-shirt). Race day registration is $25 with T-shirts based on availability. Forms, along with payment, may be returned to Hair Design Studio in Barnwell, Sanders Supply in Bamberg, or Team Zeta (P.O. Box 36, Ulmer, S.C. 29849).

The Barnwell County Public Library and Mead Hall Episcopal School are hosting a drop in for toddlers to preschoolers on Friday, Oct. 4, from 10 to 11 am. There will have crafts, games, and story times throughout the hour. Day cares and families are welcome. Please call 259-3612 with any questions.

Blackville Downtown Development
The Blackville Downtown Development Association is sponsoring a meeting Thursday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Blackville Community Center to discuss promoting ideas to clean up Main Street in order to encourage industry and businesses to come to town.
Tea Party Patriots
The Barnwell County Tea Party Patriots will meet Oct.10 at 7 p.m. at the Winton Inn in Barnwell. Come early to eat from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Buffet under $10. Guest speakers include J.H. Grissom Jr., superintendent of Barnwell District 45, and Barnwell County Sheriff Ed Carroll.
The group's mission is to educate the general populace of the core principles of the Founding Fathers and empower citizens to exercise their civic authority to hold elected officials accountable.
The Owens-Eargle-Powell-Hair Family Reunion will be Sunday, Oct. 6, at Bobby's BBQ in Warrenville. Registration is at 11 a.m. with lunch at 1 p.m. It costs $13 and is for ancestors of Etheldred Owens, Mathias Hair, Daniel Eargle, and Abram Powell.

The annual Louise and Ed Kinard Family Reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 6, at Friendship Baptist Church Social Hall in Barnwell. A brief program will begin at 1 p.m. with a picnic lunch to follow. All families are asked to bring covered dishes, desserts and tea. Paper products and ice will be furnished. All family and friends are welcome.
The descendants of Wash and Bertie Still are invited to attend the annual Still Family Reunion on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Barnwell County State Park Community Building. Traditional family sharing time begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by a covered dish luncheon. Park admission is free.
