An Expungement Workshop will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Aiken Technical College amphitheater. Session 1 is from 9:30 a.m. to noon and has a general public emphasis, while session 2 will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with an employer emphasis.
Expungement is the destruction or obliteration of criminal records relating to an arrest or conviction.
It's sponsored by the Lower Savannah Council of Governments Workforce Investment Area and Aiken Tech. It will include panelists from the Aiken County Solicitor's Office, S.C. State Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services, U.S. Attorney's Office, S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, and S.C. Legal Services.
Shepeard Community Blood Center will host a community blood drive Friday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 6 p.m. in their bloodmobile, which will be parked in The People-Sentinel's parking lot. Please bring a donor ID card or picture ID.
Pick Up with Pride, a community clean-up campaign, will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to noon. Meet on the Circle in downtown Barnwell to sign in and pick up any supplies. Trucks are needed to help pick up trash bags.
Senior Citizen Banquet
The Together Sisters will host their annual Senior Citizens Banquet on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m. at the Blackville Community Center. It is free and includes food, door prizes, fellowship and the crowning of the 2013-14 Together Sisters King and Queen.
Photo I.D. Event
The Barnwell County Voter Registration & Elections office will conduct a Photo ID event at the Blackville Town Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photo id's can be taken for Barnwell County residents who wish to have a photo id. There will be no charge for this id. These same services can also be provided Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Barnwell County Voter Registration & Elections office (34 Pechman St., Barnwell).
The Town of Blackville's election will be on Nov. 5. Please remember that you must provide a photo id in order to vote.
The Barnwell County Museum will host their annual Collectors' Day on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to exhibit their collections.

Chemo with Style
Hospice Care of Tri County sponsors Chemo With Style, a free program available to women who are undergoing cancer or other treatments which result in hair loss. Classes are held monthly at Imago Salon (215 Richland Ave., Aiken) from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 and Nov. 25.
During the program, local merchants and volunteers teach and fit each individual with a wig, showing creative ways to wear different head wear and offer personal appearance tips.

The Community Uplift Program (C.U.P) will host its 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The walk begins at the Williston Town Hall and proceeds down West Main Street to Crane and returns back downtown.
The event will include a short ceremony with survivor stories and informative medical information prior to the walk. This event is free and the community is encouraged to participate.

Blacville Charity 5K Run/Walk
The Blackville Community Biannual Charity 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Crystal Jenkins Memorial Track (behind Macedonia Elementary School). Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Blackville Community Development Corporation.
Ages 10 and up may participate. It costs $10, which includes the entry fee or $20 for entry fee and T-shirt.

The Blackville Sixth Annual Longest Drive Golf Contest will be Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Blackville Golf Course. Longest Drive Categories: Men: 20 and over, Woman: 20 and over, Boys: 15-19, Girls: 15-19, Jr. Boys: 14 and under, and Jr. Girls: 14 and under.
There will also be children's activities, silent auction, face painting, raffle, refreshments, and music.

Join the Barnwell County Arts Council on Friday, Oct. 18, for "Serving Up Soup for the Arts." It will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Effie Mae Fuller Center (behind the Barnwell County Museum).
Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any Arts Council board member, Evelyn's on the Circle, or by contacting the Arts Council at email@example.com. Lunch will be eat-in or carry-out and will include soup, crackers and dessert.
Day in the Country 5K
Team Zeta will hold A Day in the Country 5K race on Saturday, Oct. 26 beginning and ending at Twitty's Mud Bog (Hwy. 321 between Ulmer and Sycamore). Proceeds will support Team Zeta as they support special needs children and their families.
Costumed runners and decorated strollers and wheelchairs are encouraged to attend the 5K at 9 a.m. An awards ceremony will begin at 10:15 a.m. for male/female winners in different age categories. Wheelchair and stroller participants will receive a ribbon. The K-12 school with the most participation will receive an award for their special needs department.
Food, vendors and music will also be available.
Registration is $20 through Oct. 20 (includes T-shirt). Race day registration is $25 with T-shirts based on availability. Forms, along with payment, may be returned to Hair Design Studio in Barnwell, Sanders Supply in Bamberg, or Team Zeta (P.O. Box 36, Ulmer, S.C. 29849).

The Fuller House Focus Gallery's newest exhibit is the "Back to School" features artifacts from the early 1800s until the present day. This exhibit will be showing until November.

Eat Smart Move More Barnwell County has received funding to partner with faith-based organizations in Barnwell County on implementing 100 percent tobacco-free policies for their facilities and grounds. The implementation of this tobacco-free policy will have a large impact and benefit the overall health of your congregation.
ESMMBC will provide information and education on the harms associated with tobacco use and secondhand smoke for your key leaders and congregation members. Each faith-based organization that adopts and implements a 100% Tobacco-free policy will receive a $500 stipend.

W-E Band Reunion
Are you a former member of the Williston-Elko Band? If so, come out for the Williston-Elko Band Reunion on Friday, Oct. 18.
It starts at 5 p.m. in the canteen with a BBQ dinner. During dinner there will be fellowship along with pictures and other memorabilia from throughout the years. Following dinner, attend the football game by sitting in a reserved Band Reunion Section. Bring your instrument and play along with the 2013-14 W-E Band.
