Don't miss the real Christmas

The tree is up and decorated, Christmas wreaths have been placed on doors and windows, gifts have been bought and wrapped. Now, I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends, a special Christmas dinner, football, and a good Christmas parade. What more could anyone ask?
To many this is all the holiday season is about. If this is true, then many will miss out on the real joy of Christmas. I guess I am old fashion and still believe in the God of Creation who loves us and seeks a relationship with us. God even made it possible for us to have this relationship with Him by becoming our Messiah. The Christian faith believes that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of this Old Testament prophecy of God.
Luke 2:11 says, "For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Matthew tells us that "His name shall be called Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
I personally appreciate the Christmas season because it reminds me that I am in need of a Savior and that God so loved me that He sent His only Son to die upon a cross to provide the forgiveness and cleansing of my sins. Because of His love for me I can experience a relationship that only comes after one believing and accept what God has done by giving his son Jesus to be our Savior.
Have you found the Lord Jesus Christ, who came at Christmas to be your Savior? When you do, you too can experience the joy of Christmas.
Join us each Sunday morning at Seven Pines Baptist Church as we look at the Christmas story from God's word. May you experience God's love this Christmas through His son, Jesus.
