Mrs. Kenley O’Higgins Young
Shelley Elizabeth Hill and Kenley O’Higgins Young, both of Columbia, were married January 23, 2010, at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church. The Reverend John Wesley Culp and the Reverend Frank Julius Griffith Jr. performed the 5 p.m. ceremony. A reception followed at Historic 701 Whaley.
The bride is employed by T.M. Floyd as the Web content manager for the Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management. She graduated from Wofford College and received a master’s in mass communications from the University of Georgia.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Hill of Columbia, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Austin Shelley of Barnwell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Cubie Allen Hill of Jackson.
The groom is a copy editor for SmartBrief, an online news service based in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Colin Rodney Young of Georgetown and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver McQuade Higgins of Georgetown and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Pinson Young of Pikeville, Ky.
Carrie Hill Coleman, the bride’s cousin, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Angie Willis Greenwood, Kristine Davis Hooker, Catherine Martin Latiff, Greer Stokes McDougald, Leigh Allen Murphy, Molly Cecil Peterson, Karen McLeod Russo and Mary Catherine Caldwell Smith.
Logan Kirkpatrick Young, the groom’s brother, served as best man. Groomsmen were Eddie Mood Baker Jr., Ronald Samuel Nunez Cleland, Eric Edward Hartmann, Patrick David Hill, the bride’s brother, Justus Moth Jagger, Kevin Foster Langston, James Timothy Touzel and Kaith McLorin Young, the groom’s brother. Ushers were Dr. Christopher Buckingham Ballou and John Preston McQuade Price, the groom’s cousin.
Mark Register Pantsari served as the crucifer and William Scott Brawley II was the banner bearer.
The couple is traveling to Oahu, Hawaii for their honeymoon.
