Christian Cook - Birth

Russ and Linda Cook are proud to announce the birth of their son, Christian Alexander Cook. He was born at 9:54 p.m. on November 7, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center. He weighed seven pounds, 5.7 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Paternal grandparents are Russell and Darlene Cook of Barnwell.

Maternal grandparents are Gerald and Maria Williams of Hilda.

Paternal great-grandparents are Annette Cook of Denmark, and the late Ernestine Johnson of Denmark.

Imani Jones - Birth

Victor and Wanda Jones are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Imani JaNiya Jones. She was born at 3:12 p.m. on September 10, 2015 at Palmetto Health Parkridge, Columbia.

She weighed six pounds and was 18 ½ inches long.

She has one brother, Bryson Jared Jones.

Paternal grandparents are Charlie and Mary Jones of Blackville.

Maternal grandparents are Elizabeth Johnson and the late Lijah Johnson Sr.

God parents are Linda Johnson and Gary Johnson of Blackville, and Shirley Hill of Laurens.

 

Bryson Jones turns 5

Bryson Jared Jones celebrated his fifth birthday on December 12, 2015.

Bryson Jared Jones is the son of Victor and Wanda Jones of Blackville.

He has one sister, Imani JaNiya Jones.

Paternal grandparents are Charlie and Mary Jones of Blackville.

Maternal grandparents are Elizabeth Johnson and the late Lijah Johnson Sr. of Blackville.

God parents are Linda Johnson, Gary Johnson and Jacoby Hammond of Blackville.

Hodges, Carswell wed

On November 25, 2015, two graduates of Barnwell High School’s Class of 1964 were united in holy matrimony in Charleston.

Bruce H. Hodges is the son of Conrad and Ginny Hodges.

Onesta S. Carswell is the daughter of the late Wilson and Lorine Soles.

The couple will reside in Moncks Corner.

Gloster, Pou announce engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gloster Sr. of Blackville are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Eunice Gloster, to Darryl Pou. He is the son of Ms. Theresa Pou of North.

The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of the College of Charleston. She is currently employed as a teacher in Richland School District One.

The groom-elect is a 1993 graduate of North High School. He is currently employed by KW Beverages of Columbia.

The wedding is planned for November 2016.

Formal invitations will be sent.

 

VanZant, Connor wed

Amber M. VanZant of Kansas City, Missouri and David L. Connor, formerly of Barnwell, were united in marriage on December 18, 2015 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Emily Connor, groom’s daughter, served as maid of honor.

James Connor, groom’s son, was best man.

Following the wedding a reception was held at the Cheesecake Factory.

The groom is the son of the late John and Velvie Connor of Barnwell. He is a 2001 graduate of Clemson University.

The couple will reside in Kansas City, Kansas.

 

Do'Nashia Sanders

Do’Nashia Breyonna Sanders celebrated her tenth birthday on December 22, 2015.

Do’Nashia is the daughter of Cheryl Banks of Barnwell and Donnie Sanders of Allendale.

She has one sister, Dashayla Sanders.

Paternal grandparents are the late Charles and Vertelle Sanders of Kline.

Maternal grandparents are Mary Banks of Kline and George Carrie of Elko.

Great-grandparents are Adam Sanders of Kline, and the late Carrie Banks and the late Jack Banks Sr.

God parents are Willie Mae Campfield of Barnwell and Kathy E. Simmons of Blackville.

Jaycee Mims turns one

Jaycee Wren Mims celebrated her first birthday on December 29, 2015.

Jaycee Mims is the daughter of Sean and Jo Mims of Blackville.

Paternal grandparents are the late Alex Mims of Walterboro, and Patsy and Charlie Elledge of Williston.

Maternal grandparents are Tate Rogers of Blackville and Kathleen and Dan Gunnells of Olar.

Ashby Heltibridle turns three

Ashby Garnet Heltibridle celebrated her third birthday on December 19, 2015.

Ashby is the daughter of Ashley Miles and Bobby Heltibridle of Barnwell.

She has one brother, Kobey, and two sisters, Isabel and Shelby.

Paternal grandparents are Tammy Thompson and the late Phil Thompson Jr. of Barnwell.

Maternal grandparents are Ken Miles of Williston and Felicia Haddon of Barnwell.

Tucker Pope - Birth

Tanner and Kimberly H. Pope are proud to announce the birth of their son, Tucker Carroll Pope.

He was born June 8, 2015 at 7:33 a.m. at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Columbia. He weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long.

He has one sister, Emma Clare Pope.

Paternal grandparents are the late Reverend Carroll and Natelie Pope of Winnsboro, and Hans and Nan Nusseler of Chapin.

Maternal grandparents are Liz Hair, formerly of Barnwell.

Maternal great-grandparents are Mrs. Mary H. Ussery of Williston.

Sophia Santino - Birth

Jeffrey and Raven Santino are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Sophia Noelle Santino.

She was born on September 16, 2015 at Baptist Hospital in Columbia.

She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

She has one brother, Landon.

Paternal grandparents are Brenda Croft and the late Dale Croft of Barnwell.

Maternal grandparents are Bill and Joy Bonnette of Barnwell, and Mike and Kim Padillo of Lexington, N.C.

Cypress Churchwell - Birth

Kevin and Jamie Churchwell are proud to announce the birth of their son Cypress Klay Churchwell.

He was born on July 24, 2015 at 7:23 a.m. at Aiken Regional Hospital. He weighed 7.13 pounds and was 19 ¾ inches long.

He has one sister, Alexis Madison Churchwell.

Paternal grandparents are Mike White of Chiefland, Fla., and Betty Grubbs of Blackville.

Maternal grandparents are Emily Creech of Barnwell and John Curtis of Denmark.

Johnston recognized for 16 years of service to FBC Barnwell

Barnwell First Baptist Church thanked a long-time employee for her service.

Sue Johnston was recognized Nov. 15 during both morning services for her 16 years of service to the church as the custodial supervisor. A reception was also held in her honor.

Rev. Keith Richardson, pastor of Barnwell FBC, said Johnston has faithfully served the church with “initiative and care”. These qualities made her the ideal person to lead the custodial team.

Carlos Cahuich Jr. turns 1

Carlos Sol Cahuich Jr. celebrated his first birthday on Nov. 19.

Carlos is the son of Christina and Carlos Cahuich of Sylvania, Ga.

Maternal grandparents are Ellen and Jose Flores of Barnwell.

Paternal grandparents are Enrique and Maria Cahuich Puc of Mexico.

Mackenzie McClary turns 3

Mackenzie Grace McClary celebrated her third birthday on September 26, 2015.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Christopher and Shawna McClary of Hilda.

Grandparents are Stephen and Vickie Smith of Hilda, Wayne McClary of Fairfax and Anne McClary of Hampton.

Great-grandparents are the late Elmore and Delma Smith of Hilda and Albert and Beulah Collins of Barnwell, the late John J. McClary Sr. and Mary McClary of Fairfax.

 

Noah Smith turns 8

Noah Alexander Smith celebrated his eighth birthday on October 2, 2015.

Noah is the son of Shalynne Smith of Hilda.

Grandparents are Stephen and Vickie Smith of Hilda.

Great-grandparents are the late Elmore and Delma Smith of Hilda and Albert and Beulah Collins of Barnwell.

 

Collins celebrate 66 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Collins celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 3, 2015. They celebrated with their three children, Annette (Jerry) Zissett, Vickie (Stephen) Smith and Jeff Collins.

Mr. and Mrs. Collins have five grandchildren, Trena (Chris) Cheek, Kelvin Zissett, Nick Smith, Shay Smith and Shawna (Chris) McClary; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and Trevor Cheek, Noah Smith and Mackenzie McClary.

Thank you mom and dad for being a great example to us. We all love you very much. What God hath joined together, stays together.

 

Church Events - November 18, 2015

The Women's Ministry of Beulah Baptist Church of Beldoc will host their 1st Annual Harvest Day service on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. Guest speakers for the event will be Sister Georgia Doe of St. John Holiness Church of Allendale and Minister Virginia Priester of Union Missionary Baptist Church of Barnwell. Theme: "A Season of Harvest, and a Season to Give!" Guests are asked to donate canned goods and non-perishable items to help feed needy families for Thanksgiving.
