Josiah and Joseph Lott - Birth

Clint and Jan Lott are proud to announce the birth of their twins, Josiah and Joseph Lott. They were born on March 3, 2010 at Lexington Medical Center. Josiah weighed five pounds 14 ounces and Joseph weighed six pounds four ounces.
Josiah and Joseph have three brothers, Justin, Jasper and Jeb.
Paternal grandparents are Charles and Peggy Lott of Barnwell.
Maternal grandparents are John and Juanita Bessinger of Barnwell.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James H. Scott of Martin. She is a 1995 graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School. She is employed with Tiger Express.
The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence B. Housey Sr. of Fairfax. He is a 1992 graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School. He is employed with Local Motion.
The wedding is planned for 3 p.m., April 24 at Greater Faith temple C.O.G.I.C.

The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Barnwell High School. She is attending USC-Aiken.
The groom-elect is a 2003 graduate of Barnwell. He is employed with Wade’s Repair Service.
The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. June 12 at Seven Pines Church. Invitations will be sent.

Carrington Kevon Gray celebrated his 10th birthday on March 22, 2010. He is the son of Kenyon and Tomeaqua Gray of Allendale.
Carrington has two sisters, Nikeidra and Ty’nesha and one brother.
Grandparents are Daisy Hammond and Wilmur Holmes of Fairfax, Otis and Cheryl Hudson of Houston, Texas and Gail Gray of Fairfax and Kenyon Newton of Estill.

Jayda Re’Elle Jackson celebrated her first birthday on March 13, 2010. She is the daughter of Jermaine Jackson and Holly Moore of Barnwell.
Jayda has two brothers, Rashawn and Jermaine Jackson Jr. and one sister, Bre’Iona Jackson.
Grandparents are James Priester and Brenda Jackson and Bob and Brenda S. Recor, all of Barnwell.
Great-grandparents are Madeline Still and the late Rollan Still, Dorothy Sapp and the late Bill Robinson, Barbara Lamoureux and Big Bob Recor.

Ja’Quahvis K. James celebrated his fifth birthday on March 21, 2010. He is the son of Travis James and Shayna Williams of Blackville and the stepson of Arnitha James.

Young, McKenzie honored

Michael Young, Sports Editor for The People-Sentinel, received an award March 27 at the S.C. Press Association at the group’s winter meeting in Columbia.
Young won third place for Best Sports Feature Photo among weeklies with circulations over 6,000. The award was presented by SCPA executive director Bill Rogers at a luncheon honoring South Carolina’s prize winning journalists.
At the same meeting Laura J. McKenzie, regional publisher of the Morris Communications’ Barnwell Newspaper Group, was elected president of the S.C. Press Association.

The groom-elect is a 2007 graduate of Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School. He is employed with Savannah River Site/Baker Concrete.
The wedding is planned for 1 p.m., March 18, 2011 at Collins Park in Barnwell.

Cave, Gordon Evangelist Maeshell Patterson Cave of Barnwell and Willie Junior Gordon of Statesboro, Ga., announce their forthcoming marriage. The bride-elect is a 1981 graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School. She received a cosmetology license upon graduation. She received an associate of arts degree in 1993 and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree. The groom-elect is a 1981 graduate of Statesboro High School. He is pursuing a degree in heating and cooling technology. The wedding is planned for April 17 at New Zion Baptist Church in Siegling. A reception will immediately follow.

 Jay-Shawn “Meatloaf” Thomas celebrated his third birthday on March 25, 2010. He is the son of Tamica Garvin of Blackville. Meatloaf has one sister, Takoya “Muffin” Sanders. Grandparent is Felicia Garvin of Blackville. Great-grandparents are John and Louise Garvin of Blackville.

 McKenley Lynett Chavis celebrated her first birthday on March 2, 2010. She is the daughter of Justin and Shelley Chavis of Barnwell. Grandparents are James Chavis and the late Tessa Chavis of Barnwell, James Zawacki, Joy Barwick of Barnwell and the late Sherry Zawacki of Barnwell. Great-grandparents are John L. and Darlene Owens of Windsor, Peggy P. Owens of Barnwell, Mary Lee Aumiller of Barnwell, the late James Forrest Chavis, Sybil Owens of Barnwell and John and Chris Zawacki of Barnwell.

Rosa Lee Kennedy - Happy 96th Birthday!!

Rosa Lee Kennedy celebrated her 96th birthday March 14. Mrs. Kennedy was joined by family and friends and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Mrs. Kennedy was married in 1932 to the late Wilie Kennedy. While Mrs. Kennedy was born in Aiken County, she has resided her entire life in Barnwell County. She has been blessed with nine children, 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Kennedy was a homemaker earlier in her life and has worked as a nursing home attendant in Barnwell County.
