Mackenzie Grace McClary turns four

Mackenzie Grace McClary celebrated her fourth birthday on September 26, 2016.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Christopher and Shawna McClary of Hilda.

Grandparents are Stephen and Vickie Smith of Hilda, Wayne McClary of Fairfax and Anne McClary of Hampton.

Great-grandparents are the late Elmore and Delma Smith of Hilda, Albert and Beulah Collins of Barnwell, the late John J. McClary Sr. and Mary McClary of Fairfax.

Peyton Connor Curtis - Birth

Donnie and Nikki Curtis of Barnwell are proud to announce the birth of their son, Peyton Connor Curtis.

He was born at 12:55 p.m. on September 23, 2016 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. He weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long.

Paternal grandparents are Donnie and Glenda Curtis of Barnwell.

Maternal grandparents are Shannon Raffield and Tony Still of Barnwell.

Paternal great-grandparent is Bertha Driggers of Barnwell.

Hortons celebrate 50 years of marriage

Ronnie and Sybil Horton of Barnwell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 4, 2016. They recently celebrated their Golden Anniversary with a weekend getaway.

The Hortons were married on Nov. 4, 1966.

Mr. and Mrs. Horton have two children, Casey (Christa) Horton of Barnwell and Joni (Adam) Dial of Aiken. They also have four grandchildren, Kyle Horton, Hayden Horton, Brady Dial and Ansley Dial.

Kinard, Simmons engaged

Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Kinard of Barnwell are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brittany Nicolie Kinard, to Jason Matthew Simmons. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Simmons Jr. of Allendale.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Barnwell High School. She is currently employed by Jason’s Station.

The groom-elect is a 2002 graduate of Barnwell High School. He is the owner of Jason’s Station.

The wedding is planned for December 31, 2016 at 5 p.m. at the Hilda Community Center. Formal invitations will be sent.

Ryland Nathaniel Bolen - Birth

Cullen and Kristen Bolen of Williston are proud to announce the birth of their son, Ryland Nathaniel Bolen.

He was born at 9:40 p.m. on August 24, 2016 at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia. He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19 ¼ inches long.

Paternal grandparents are Gene and Kerri Bolen of Williston and Brian and Patti Cook of Mt. Pleasant.

Maternal grandparents are Scott and Donna Augustine of Williston.

Olivia Ryan Hindman - Birth

Shane and Hilary Hindman of Barnwell are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Ryan Hindman.

She was born at 3:47 p.m. on June 6, 2016 at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.

She has two sisters, Evie and Mary Kate.

Paternal grandparents are Donna and the late Allen Hindman of Bamberg.

Maternal grandparents are Becky Givens of Barnwell and Jeff and JoAnn Givens of Bamberg.

Paternal great-grandparents are Merle Hindman of Bamberg.

Emmalin Carlisle Huber - Birth

Rob and Kristin Huber of Williston are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Emmalin Carlisle Huber.

She was born at 8:11 a.m. on September 7, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center. She weighed 9 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 ¾ inches long.

She has one brother, Trey.

Paternal grandparents are Robbie &Terri Huber of Denmark.

Maternal grandparents are Gean & Linda Bridgmon of Williston.

Paternal great-grandparents are Patsy Coker of Denmark and Ron Huber of Orangeburg. Paternal great-great-grandmother is Edith Coker of Manning.

Kaylee Grace Brant - Birth

Kayla Brant and Blaze Baxley of Barnwell are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Kaylee Grace Brant.

She was born on September 27, 2016 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long.

She has one brother, Cole Workman.

Paternal grandparents are Paula Baxley of Williston.

Maternal grandparents are Lawanda Wisner of Barnwell and Troy Brant of Ulmer.

Maternal great-grandparents are Tommy and Patricia Atkinson of Barnwell.

Trinity Baptist to celebrate Homecoming, pastor appreciation

On Sunday, Oct. 2, Trinity Baptist Church will observe Homecoming.

They will also celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day. Rev. Rommie Martin and his wife, Frances, have served their Lord at Trinity Baptist for the past 25 years.

Before coming to Trinity, Rommie served as interim pastor of St. John's Baptist Church. The members were real faithful to their church during the time they were without a full-time pastor. They encouraged Rommie to follow God's call for the ministry of our Lord.

Jordan Baptist Church of the Red Oak Community, Barnwell, will kick off their 150th Church Anniversary with their annual revival services Monday, Sept. 26 thru Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest revivalist will be Rev. T C Edwards of Friendship Baptist Church, Aiken. Family and Friends Day is set for Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The 150th Church Anniversary will be held on Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. General Jennings of Bottsford Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Ga.

Imani Jones turns one

Imani JaNiya Jones celebrated her first birthday on September 10, 2016.

Imani JaNiya Jones is the daughter of Victor and Wanda Jones of Blackville.

She has one brother, Bryson Jared Jones.

Paternal grandparents are Charlie and Mary Jones of Blackville.

Maternal grandparents are Elizabeth Johnson and the late Lijah Johnson Sr. of Blackville.

Weslynn Marie Kennedy - Birth

Alan and Stephanie Kennedy of Williston are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Weslynn Marie Kennedy.

She was born at 6:56 p.m. on August 25, 2016 at Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Weslynn has one sister, Annaleigh Pearl Kennedy.

Paternal grandparents are Richard and Angie Kennedy of Barnwell.

Maternal grandparents are Bill and Donna Dixon of Barnwell.

Collins, Warmbold announce engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Clem Collins of Barnwell are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Cayton Collins, to Michael Warmbold. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Warmbold of Charlotte, N.C.

The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Clemson University. She is currently employed by Fort Mill schools as a first grade teacher.

The groom-elect is a 2012 graduate of Clemson University. He is currently employed by Trane Carolinas as a new systems sales engineer.

The wedding is planned for December 17, 2016 at Edisto Island.

Barnwell Lions Club changes leadership

Barnwell Lions Club changed leadership at their dinner meeting on August 23.

Lion John Young, outgoing President, passed the gavel to Lion John McHenry as District Governor Pat Friday from Aiken looked on.

Lion District Governor Friday reported on the happenings of Lionism in our District and state, and invited all Lions to our District 32B Mid-Winter Rally in Aiken on January 28, 2017. She complimented our small club on the activities we are sponsoring which promotes our efforts to combat seeing and hearing losses among our local citizens.

Mr. & Mrs. Grady celebrate 60 years

Pete and Nina Grady of Williston celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 26, 2016 at 6 p.m. in Williston with a surprise dinner party given by their children. Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren also joined them.

The couple was married on August 30, 1956.

Mr. and Mrs. Grady have three children: Carol Spain of Williston, Verna Dobson of Barnwell and Frank Grady of Williston.

Moodys celebrate 'Golden Anniversary'

James T. and Esther (Cooper) Moody of Snelling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 27, 2016. They were honored with a celebration at Seven Pines Baptist Church hosted by family.

The couple was married on August 27, 1966 in Barnwell. Both have retired and reside in Snelling, where they have lived all their married life.

James and Esther have three sons: Jimbo, Jody and John. They also have 10 grandchildren and three great-grands.

Mr. & Mrs. Wright celebrate 53 years of marriage

Aubrey and Patricia Wright of Barnwell celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 23, 2016.

They were married on August 23, 1963.

Mr. and Mrs. Wright have three children, including Terri Wright of Columbia, Jacquline McMillian of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Doreen Scott of Columbia. The couple also have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
