WEHS - Retreat builds leaders

On September, 27, 2012, the Williston-Elko High School Principal's Advisory Council went on a leadership and team-building retreat at the Barnwell County State Park.
At the retreat, 16 students, who were selected for demonstrating excellent scholastic achievement and classroom citizenship, participated in team-building exercises, including a trust walk and team-walkers activity, where students had to use "skis" to transport their teammates from one location to another. Pam Rush from Axis I Center of Barnwell also taught a seminar educating the students on illegal substances and how to encourage a drug-free school environment.
Finally, Dr. Brian Newsome, the principal at WEHS, talked to the students about the characteristics of an effective leader.
