STABLE TALK News from the Campus of Barnwell High

Congratulations to the JROTC Leadership Team!
During two rounds of competitive online play, Barnwell High's JROTC team earned top scores out of the 1,138 teams who competed from across the world to earn a place in the National Leadership Bowl and Symposium to be held on the campus of George Mason University in Washington, DC from June 21-25. The BHS team is one of only forty teams in the nation to advance to the finals. Kyle Baker, Chris Bozard, Caroline Johnson, and Henry Hutto comprise the Leadership Team.
A major emphasis of the JROTC curriculum is service-learning. The cadets plan their own learning activities in order to benefit the Barnwell community. This year they elected to complete service projects at Litchfield Head Start, Barnwell Elementary School, Guinyard-Butler Middle School, and the Barnwell County Nursing Home. Once the service activities have been completed, the JROTC cadets conduct a briefing to define the entire scope of the project, as well as hold an after-action review to reflect upon the entire assignment.
