Back from the stars

Kelly Edwards Elementary School students journeyed to space last week - sort of.
Ray Cole, the school's interpreter, and Betsy Hooks, the TAG teacher, led groups of students during their visit in the Starlab through a journey of stars, planets and the galaxy. The portable, inflatable planetarium dome from the S.C. State Museum came complete with projection cylinders, program outlines and student activities.
The Starlab's stop to KEES was made possible by a $1,000 Innovative Teaching Mini Grant from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions. It was awarded to KEES teacher Nancy Brady-Wood.
"It was awesome," said KEES Principal Nakeisha Baxley, who took a trip inside the inflatable lab. "It's something the kids are excited about."
