Job fairs show potential employers in area
The first fair will be at the Barnwell Elementary School on April 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Ourglass Plan member churches, employers and other contributors are sponsoring the job fair, said Diane Bell, an administrative assistant with the Ourglass Plan.
Five employers from the tri-county area have already committed to the fair and seven more are likely to commit, said Bell.
The tri-county area includes Barnwell, Bamberg and Allendale counties, she said.
The employers will be present to accept resumes and applications and may conduct interviews for current and future job vacancies, Bell said.
Employers who have already committed to the job fair include Acts, Inc., Lower Savannah Council of Governments, Barnwell County Hospital and Barnwell County, Bell said.
Acts, Inc. is a sub-contractor at Savannah River Site, she said.
Interested persons should bring their resumes and dress for possible interviews, she said.
The Ourglass Plan is a church-affiliated group whose members have been hit hard with unemployment and the group wanted to help, she said.
Area churches who are members include Ebenezer Missionary Baptist in Williston, Samaria Missionary Baptist in Springfield, Macedonia Baptist and Bethany Baptist in Blackville, she said.
"We are just trying to help the community and our members," Bell said.
The second fair will be a three-day professional career job fair held at Crane (Dixie-Narco) in Williston from April 14 through April 16. The fair will start at 9 a.m. and run until 8 p.m. each day.
Job opportunities available include: value stream leaders, CNC programmers, lean managers, inventory managers, planners, quality engineers, fabrication supervisors, manufacturing leaders, HR leaders and buyers.
Crane is not currently hiring for positions in the plant, shipping or receiving areas. Those interested in those areas or those unable to visit Crane during the job fair should send their resume to email@example.com noting the position of interest in the subject line.
