Rosier 5K set

The 7th annual Susie Rosie Character of Fitness 5k Run/Walk is Saturday morning, April 13.
The event is a fundraiser for the Barnwell County Animal Shelter. Benefits go toward providing low/no cost neutering and spaying.
The race begins at 8 a.m. at Veterans Park by the airport and goes around Lake Edward Brown. The awards ceremony will be around 9:15 a.m. at the park.
Susie Rosier was a personal trainer in Barnwell before her death from cancer in 2006. She was a lover of animals and worked tirelessly for homeless pets in the county. The first race was held in 2007, and each year approximately $10,000 is raised.
People can register to participate the morning of the race from 7 a.m. to 7:30. The cost is $25, which includes a T-shirt. Children 6 and under are free. Dogs are welcome to participate.
During the ceremony, an individual will be presented the "One-by-One" award for their efforts in finding homes for animals at the shelter.
In 2012 the foundation assisted with close to 300 spays and neuters to residents of Barnwell County. Right now the shelter's euthanasia rate is at an all time low, ranging between 35 to 48 percent at times.
