Gopher festival returns Saturday

The fall season is almost here and that means it's time for Hilda's Gopher Festival.
The festival, now in its third year, is a great way for families and friends to spend quality time together. This year's event begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the old train depot in Hilda. There will be a street dance and concessions will be available.
On Saturday, there will be plenty to do. A bake sale begins at 9 a.m. A "Decorate Your Trike, Bike, or Wagon" contest will be judged at 10 a.m. And the parade is at 11 a.m.
Music and entertainment, including yodeling, begins at 1 p.m.
There will be a "Best Dressed Hat" contest, cake walk, a bouncy house with a slide and other games for children. Raffle tickets will be on sale for a seasonal wreath and a Clemson and Carolina yard sign.
Fried chicken, hamburgers and other food will be available. Proceeds will benefit the Hilda Fire Department.
Last year the festival was a great success. Everyone is encouraged to come out this weekend and make this year's event even better.
