Third Thursday: A ghostly good time

It's going to be a scary, spooky and creepy Third Thursday on the Circle in Barnwell this week.
Halloween will be the theme Thursday, Oct. 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a costume contest for children and pets. And Doctors, Lawyers and Indian Chiefs will rock the stage.
Children 6 and under will have their costumes judged at 5:30 at the fountain, and for those 7 and older judging will begin at 6:15.
The Animal Advocates will judge the pet costumes for dogs. Registration for the contest is from 5 to 6:15 p.m. at the table in front of The Pick of the Litter store. The fee is $5 per dog and $10 per team of dogs - each dog will receive a goodie bag. The parade and judging will begin at 6:30. The categories are: funniest, scariest, best owner/dog combination, best dog team costume, best overall, best dog float, people's choice and an open category for the cutest and scariest four-legged friends.
There will also be a quarter carnival for children, mini pumpkin painting, face painting, free hay rides and a hot-dog fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 392.
Children will be able to trick-or-treat with participating businesses.
