Help ‘Stuff the Bus’ over next two weekends

Local Clemson and Carolina fans will get a chance to see whose fans are the most generous over the next two weekends.

The Barnwell County United Way will be holding its annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive in front of Walmart in Barnwell on August 11-12 and 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Shoppers are encouraged to purchase school supplies to donate to the United Way.

“Those donations will be distributed evenly between Barnwell County’s three public school districts,” said Barnwell United Way Chief Professional Officer John Haskell.

Haskell and others will be stationed outside the store to collect the donations.

As has been done in the past, two buckets for monetary donations will be marked with “Clemson” and “Carolina” for a good-natured rivalry to see whose fans can donate the most.

“Last year, we received $1,200 in donations,” said Haskell. “Each district received $400. We hope to exceed that this year. It’s all for a great cause.”
