Circle Theatre recognized the talent of its previous season during its annual awards night.

Barnwell’s community theatre, located on Academy Street, held the awards night at the Barnwell County Museum on Sept. 16 to bestow awards for last season’s three plays. Everyone enjoyed food and entertainment.

The theatre also announced the formation of a new Junior Board comprised of five Barnwell County teens that have been active in the theatre. The members are Ever Wyatt, Dylan Wood, Chloe Towne, Caleb Bozard and Katherine Palm. They will provide input, community service and be ambassadors for the theatre in local schools.

For the 2017-2018 season, the theatre will open with “A Charlie Brown Christmas” using a cast of adults. Auditions were recently held and performances are December 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17.

The theatre’s Youth Wing will present “Once Upon a Mattress” on Feb. 23-25 as well as March 2-4. Auditions for this play, a spin on the story of the Princess and the Pea, will be held December 4, 5 and 7.

The regular season will conclude in May with the British comedy “Are You Being Served?”, which is based on a television show of the same name. Auditions will take place Feb. 19, 20 and 22. Performances are May 11-13 and 18-20.
