Donate Love Lights for elderly

Donations are now being accepted for the annual Love Lights Program in Barnwell.

Love Lights is a fundraiser in support of the elderly in Barnwell County. Sponsored by The Barnwell Downtown Association and The People-Sentinel, proceeds go toward the Barnwell County Nursing Home Residents’ Fund, home delivered meals by Generations Unlimited of Barnwell County, and the Barnwell Rotary Club’s Coins of Alzheimer’s Research Trust (CART) Fund.

White lights represent in memory of a deceased loved one and colored lights honor someone living. A minimum $5 per donation light is requested but larger donations are welcome.

The tree lighting ceremony will be held on The Circle in Barnwell on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. “The tree will shine brightly throughout the holiday season as a reminder of that special love,” said Lynn McEwen.

Donations may be mailed to Love Lights c/o The Barnwell Development Association, P.O. Box 1527, Barnwell, SC 29812 or dropped off at Barnwell City Hall, 130 Main Street, Barnwell. City Hall cannot charge credit/debit cards for donations and all donations must be made separately from any business transaction at City Hall including water payments, said McEwen.

Anyone with questions may contact McEwen at (803) 541-6555 or (803) 259-3266.
