3 meetings slated this week for County Council
The Barnwell County Council will meet three times this week.
The first is a special called meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. in Council chambers. The only item on the agenda is a closed session to discuss a “personnel matter related to the museum”.
Later, at 6 p.m., the council will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting in council chambers. The agenda includes a letter of support for SRP Credit Union ATM in Blackville. It also includes a closed session for four items:
- Potential contract negotiations and legal advice related to the hospital bankruptcy,
- Personnel matters related to the offices of the administrator, auditor, building and grounds, business, coroner, emergency management, probate court, public works and treasurer;
- A pre-contractual matter related to Project Bradley; and
- A pre-contractual matter related to solar projects.
Upon return to open session the council is slated to vote on the first reading of five ordinances related to solar projects.

The third is a special called meeting, again in closed session, to be held at the Barnwell County Library at 7:30 p.m. The agenda states the council will discuss “contract negotiations related to the resolution of EDC issues.”
The mayors of the municipalities of Barnwell, Blackville and Williston have been invited to meet with the County Council and all three have confirmed their plans to attend.
