Blackville's sole grocery store is closed after fire damaged its roof.
Firefighters were called to Ken's Galaxy on Main Street June 1. There were people on the roof patching leaks, but Blackville Fire Chief Hariel Corley said that had nothing to do with the fire.
Blackville firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly. "The fire didn't get much of a jump on it," he said.
Corley said the building didn't suffer much fire damage, but did have water damage in the roof area.
There is no cause for the fire, said Corley.

Car chase ends in house - A Denmark man was arrested after leading police on a car chase before wrecking into a house.
Donterry Isaac Staley, 21, of 1334 Maple Ave., Denmark, is charged with hit and run with property damage, using a motor vehicle without consent, not having a S.C. driver's license and failing to stop for blue lights, according to his arrest report.
Staley is accused of stealing a gray Mercury Sable and running from Barnwell police when they tried to stop him May 16. He then crashed into a house on Colonial Drive and took off running, states the report.
