The saying, “Can’t carry a tune in a bucket,” certainly did not describe the recent performance during Barnwell’s 3rd Thursday event.
The Garden City Chorus, from Augusta, Ga. entertained a large crowd at the Barnwell County Library community room, Aug. 19.
Not only could the enthusiasm be heard in the performers’ voices, but their emotion was visibly apparent with each song through facial expressions and body gestures. It was obvious these men enjoyed performing.
The group was the main attraction during the 3rd Thursday event but other entertainment was also ongoing.
Bo Gardner, a soulful saxophone player entertained residents on the Circle while Marc Epperson formed balloon figures for the children.
Juggler Allen Black performed, throwing flaming torches around during the hot afternoon.
The Animal Advocates were on hand with several rescue dogs inviting attendees to vote in their bid to win $10,000 from the Animal Rescue Site.
Face painting was done by local Mary Fleetwood as well.
The Barnwell Downtown Development Association with the City of Barnwell sponsor the 3rd Thursday events.
Lynn Cox, the city tourism and community development director, said the events are designed to bring residents downtown to enjoy the entertainment as well as shop with the downtown merchants.
