Bellinger arrested for assaulting prostitute
WILLISTON - Barry Bellinger Jr. was arrested Jan. 29 for outstanding warrants after a Williston officer spotted a vehicle he is known to use.
The 28-year-old Williston man was wanted for assaulting a woman he allegedly was prostituting via a website the past three months, according to a Williston incident report.
On Jan. 24, the victim called police claiming Bellinger assaulted her after she told him she could not work that night because she was pregnant. They left together in a vehicle where the victim said they got into an argument. Bellinger would not let her out the car, which led to another assault, according to the report.
The victim eventually escaped and went to Sam's Place where she called police.
Bellinger was released to the Barnwell County Detention Center on charges of criminal domestic violence, first offense, kidnapping, prostitution, and possession of marijuana.

Woman kills boyfriend after he attacks her
NORTH - Orangeburg County deputies say a 23-year-old woman shot and killed her boyfriend after he dragged her back into a house in North and punched her in the head.
Investigators said the couple started arguing around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when 24-year-old Jeremy Williamson found papers about an arrest in Lexington County in his girlfriend's purse.
The woman told deputies she tried to call her mother, but Williamson refused to let her use the phone. Then when she went outside, the woman says Williamson pulled her back inside and punched her.
Investigators say the woman got a gun and Williamson charged at her. The gun fired, hitting Williamson in the stomach. He died several hours later at the hospital.
Deputies are still investigating and no charges have been filed.
