Ribbon cut to open new Barnwell Academy

For many families in Barnwell and the surrounding communities, searching for the “right fit” for their child’s education can sometimes cause many questions.
However, the families of 17 area children believe they have found an answer.
Opening officially on Tuesday, Aug. 10, with its Parent Orientation Night, Barnwell Academy is preparing for the 2010-2011 school year. Classes will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 18.
The school offers a curriculum seeking to educate and produce well-rounded children who will easily adapt and, ultimately, become the adults who will shape the future, said Sally Fickling, lead teacher.
“Located in space provided by the Barnwell Presbyterian Church, Barnwell Academy has hired state certified teachers to provide the best education possible to their students,” she said.
“Students are encouraged to cultivate their knowledge at the levels best determined by their abilities and needs, rather than solely by grade-level specifics. Each student is given the opportunity to meet their true potential and to expand their educational horizons in a safe and nurturing environment.”
