School board elections/candidates set

Upcoming elections will be held for the three school districts.
Filings closed Jan. 27 with four candidates in Williston, three in Blackville and one in Barnwell.
Incumbent Alan Mulligan, who is the current chairman, incumbent Calvin Melton, Billy Williams Jr. and Thomas Caldwell filed for the two seats to be filled in Williston, said Debbie McNeil, administrative assistant for the Williston School District 29.
Incumbents Steve McCormack and Inell Waring, along with Connie Moody, filed for the two seats to be filled in Blackville, said Yvonne Birt, administrative assistant for the Barnwell School District 19.
Abraham Sexton filed for the one seat to be filled in Barnwell, said Myrtle Smoak, administrative assistant for Barnwell School District 45.
“We only had one person file, and he’s the incumbent,” Smoak said.
The election will be held April 10, 2012. Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than March 10, 2012.

The following precincts and polling places will be involved in this election:
Barnwell #1, #2, #3, and #4 will vote at the National Guard Armory, 10233 Marlboro Ave.
Blackville #1, #2, and Healing Springs will vote at the Blackville Community Center, 19464 Solomon Blatt Ave.
Elko will vote at the Elko Fire Station, 10077 Hwy. 78
Friendship will vote at the Friendship Fire Department.
Kline will vote at the Kline Town Hall, 1247 Kings Ave.
Hilda will vote at Hilda Town Hall, 35 Railroad Ave.
Snelling will vote at Snelling Town Hall, 30 Morris St.
Williston #1, #2, and #3 will vote at Williston Town Hall, 13112 Main St.
