In non-conference action, the USC-Salkehatchie men's soccer team battled Faulkner University (JV) to a scoreless tie Saturday in Allendale.
Despite numerous scoring chances, the Indians were held scoreless for the second time in the last three games.
Sophomore Mamadou Ka had a one-on-one opportunity for a score with four minutes remaining.
Ka, however, wasn't able to execute on the play as Faulkner's keeper Pritchard Nadiri made a diving save inches from the goal.
Ka said the team let one slip away.
"I had a great chance for a score, but couldn't put the ball in the goal," Ka said. "I misjudged the quickness and speed of their keeper. I didn't see him coming when I took the shot."
Salk coach Bill Glass said team played hard and with a lot of heart.
"Defensively, I couldn't ask for a better performance. Faulkner has a very good program and our team went out and held them scoreless today," Glass said.
In other action, USC-Salkehatchie tied Middle Georgia College 1-1 Wednesday in Allendale.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, Andre Adamo provided the tying goal off an assist from Mamadou Ka.
The defense was again great for the Indians as they held their third opponent to one goal. The unit was anchored by keeper Dieusel Jeannot, Jeannot made seven saves, including several key stops in the final three minutes.
Others stepping up defensively were Ordane Smith, Timoy Mowatt, Wayne Warsop, Dave Stone and Odane Smith.
"Defensively, I think we do a good of anticipating and reading plays," Warsop said. "We're kinda like our brothers' keeper out there. We have each others' back, no matter what happens."
