The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run that sent a bicyclist to the hospital.
DeQuan Ross, 19, of Elko, was riding his bike around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night when he was struck by an unknown car, which has not been identified, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the SCHP.
The car was traveling east on Rosemary Road in Elko when it went through a stop sign and struck Ross, who was riding north on Thompson Street. The car then left the scene, said Jones.
Ross was transported to the hospital with injuries Jones called "serious but non-life threatening." An EMS transmission to Barnwell County Emergency Dispatch said Ross was being treated for pain in his knee.
