The Allendale-Fairfax Lady Tigers defeated a pair of local foes in a Tri-County volleyball match Sept. 29 in Allendale.
The Lady Tigers defeated Bethune-Bowman High in two sets by a scores of 25-23 and 25-21. The Lady Tigers then completed the sweep by defeating Wade Hampton High 25-13.
Allendale-Fairfax High coach LaVal Anderson said the team showed a lot of poise in the match.
"A couple of the games were really close. I thought our players did a good job of staying calm and executing at crucial times in the games," Anderson said.
Fueling the Lady Tigers' attack were Chrishawna White, Cionna Creech and Jasmine White.
Chrishawna White notched a double-double with 23 kills, 13 digs and six assists. Cionna Creech also had a good all-around performance with 12 serving points, eight kills, seven assists and four digs. Jasmine White tallied nine serving points, four aces, nine assists and three digs.
Several others playing well included Genetta Ward with eight serving points and four aces. Tyashia Fields contributed six assists, four serving points and two digs. Chiante Williams added five digs and three serving points.
"I was really pleased with how we've improved on our serving and decision-making, especially when attacking the net. Our girls can be as good as any team in the region when they set their minds to it," Anderson said.
