A business serving the "backbone" of American industry has a new location in Barnwell.
Palmetto Truck & Trailer Service opened the doors to its new location on Dunbarton Boulevard Oct. 21. Already in business for 15 years on Hwy. 70, owner Dan Birt thought now was the right time to open a second location, which has a full service parts department.
The business caters exclusively to trucks and trailers. Dan, a Barnwell native, has been working in the trucking business for 29 years and knows the commitment involved.
"Trucks are the backbone of our industry," he said, adding he understands and appreciates the sacrifices truckers make whether it's long hours on the road or time away from their families.
The business provides 24-hour roadside assistance, towing and recovery - including major accident service - anywhere in the country.
Palmetto Truck & Trailer offers tires and tire repair, truck parts - such as alternators, starters, fuel filters, water pumps, airbags, lights, oil filters, belts, hoses and much more - major and minor repairs, federal inspections and all PM (preventive maintenance) services. Chris Campbell is the parts manager at the new location.
Dan, who operates the business with his wife, Lisa, has 14 dedicated employees, he said.
The new location is at 10200 Dunbarton Blvd. next to Sports Gas and Convnience, and its hours are Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The phone number is (803) 259-5255. Email email@example.com with questions and inquiries. Palmetto Truck & Trailer Service is also on Facebook.
The other shop is located at 5585 Hwy. 70, and the number there is (803) 259-2200.
