The Williston-Elko School Athletic Department is pleased to announce offensive lineman Taylor Hearn has been selected to play in the 2013 Shrine Bowl.
Hear, along with 46 other players from the state, will represent the South Carolina Sandlappers in the gridiron classic between the Carolinas Dec. 21 at Wofford College in Spartanburg.
Hearn, a three-year starter, receives high grades for his blocking on the offensive line each week.
He plays on both sides of the line and is already committed to Clemson University.
Hearn is also a standout on the Williston-Elko baseball team. Last season, he led the team with six home runs. On the mound, he racked up seven wins in nine outings.
"This is a highly prestigious honor," Hearn said. "I'd like to thank my parents, coaches, teammates and fans for their great support. Without them, this kind of honor wouldn't be possible. I really looking forward to representing Williston-Elko High."
Williston-Elko High head coach Dwayne Garrick said Hearn is a special player.
"I'm very happy for Taylor Hearn. The Shrine Bowl is getting one heck of a player," Garrick.
"Taylor is one of the hardest working football players I've been around. He's a very unselfish and leads by example."
