The first ever Elko Holiday Market will be the first four Saturdays in November from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The Elko Farmers' Market extends its season this year by offering a variety of seasonal and holiday produce, preserves, and crafts to enhance your Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebrations. Along with additional goodies to sweeten the season, there will also be items for festive home and office décor, Christmas tree decorations, plus, many affordable gifts for everyone.

The Barnwell County Animal Shelter will hold an adoption day and bake sale at the Tractor Supply store in Barnwell on Saturday, Nov. 2, from noon to 3 p.m. Several pets will be available for adoption, and there will be baked goods and raffles to raise money for the vet care of shelter animals.
The Bamberg County South Fork of the Edisto River Canoe/Kayak River Run will be Saturday, Nov. 2. Put in between 9 and 10 a.m. at the Bobcat Landing on U.S. 301 (north of Bamberg) and go to Brabham Landing (Cannon Bridge Road). Take out between 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The seven-mile river run, which is sponsored by the Bamberg County Chamber of Commerce, costs $5 per person (includes transportation back to Bobcat Landing).

Hawks Family Day
The Hawks Hit Harder Family and Friends Day will be Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Blackville Country Club. It's for all players who played for Coach Tim Moore from 1979 to 1986. A $25 donation is requested.
The 5k Walk/Run Turkey Trot is Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at Lake Brown. The entry fee is $15 for adults or $5 for children (ages 6 to 16). Race day registration is $20. Register at City Hall. Road maps are available at www.cityofbarnwell.com.
Medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each age division.

Native American Festival
The 2013 Native American Cherokee Trail River Festival is Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This free event will be held at the Cayce Center Complex (1800 12th St. Ext., Cayce) and includes craft vendors, cultural food and two 18' teepees. Children will be able to dance and play games that Native American children played while parents listen to wonderful music and wander through the many displays and demonstration booths.
Special guest will be Chief Steve Silverheels, son of Jay Silverheels. Jay Silverheels is best known for his role as Tonto from the Lone Ranger television show. This year's festival will also include drummers from the Edisto Tribe, Edisto River Singers and dancers from around the quad state area.
The Barnwell County Museum is sponsoring a fall arts and crafts festival Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Effie Mae Fuller Center (corner of Hagood and Marlboro avenues). There will be old time activities and games for children (12:30 to 3 p.m.), cake walk (11:30 a.m.), demonstrations (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and venders selling gifts for the holidays. Shrimp and grits lunch is $8 per bowl and includes drink.
The event is free to attend, but costs $5 to be a vendor.

Chemo with Style
Hospice Care of Tri County sponsors Chemo With Style, a free program available to women who are undergoing cancer or other treatments which result in hair loss. Classes are held monthly at Imago Salon (215 Richland Ave., Aiken) from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Nov. 25.
During the program, local merchants and volunteers teach and fit each individual with a wig, showing creative ways to wear different head wear and offer personal appearance tips.

Christmas Tree Lighting
The city of Barnwell's annual Christmas by Candlelight and Tree Lighting Service with the Love Light Dedication is Thursday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m. on the Circle. Love Light forms are due Dec. 2.
The city is looking for a tree to be donated. It should look good and be around 20 to 30 feet tall.

Barnwell: The city of Barnwell's annual Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. Rented float applications are due by Nov. 1. All other participation applications are due Dec. 2.
Williston: The town of Williston Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. Awards will be given for Best Band, Best Float, Best Auto, Best Character and Best golf-cart.

Barnwell Academy is hosting a pumpkin patch at their new school location through Nov. 1. Pumpkins of various sizes and prices will be available for purchase. The patch will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during weekdays, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Proceeds benefit both Barnwell Academy and missions in a Navajo Reservation in New Mexico.

The Elko Fire Department is sponsoring a Turkey Shoot fundraiser every Friday and Saturday night at 6 p.m. between Nov. 1, and Dec. 21. They will also raffle off a 12 gauge Remington 887 (Bone Collector) pump shotgun. Tickets for the raffle will be $10 each.
Christian Business Ventures
Christian Business Ventures will host a three-day fundraiser Nov. 1 thru 3 in Blackville. Food and crafters are invited to set up for a small fee. Friday will feature blue grass country gospel sing under the big tent from 6 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, there will be bikers open road ride from 10 a.m. to noon, hog pickin', biker's show from noon to 2 p.m., auction, supper, entertainment, and more. On Sunday, a carry in pot luck under the big tent will be held with local entertainment.
Voorhees College Golf Tournament
Voorhees College is sponsoring a golf tournament Thursday, Nov. 7, at Sweetwater Country Club to raise money for scholarships. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
The cost is $75 per person (four person team format). Prizes will be awarded.
