Funeral services for Deacon Leon Harley, 79, of Barnwell, were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 17, at Jordan Baptist Church in Barnwell. Formal visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m., Dec.16, at Sweet Water Baptist Church.
Deacon Leon Harley passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Bamberg Uni-Health.
Mr. Harley was the son of the late Jane Owens and the late Ed and Lydia Harley.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his beloved wife, Rose Marie Harley; six daughters, Leona Harley, Polly Harley, Ella Harley, Catherine Harley, Dorothy (Leon) Smith, and Rose (Rick) Arnold; four sons, James (Phyllis) Scott, Reverend Henry L. Harley, Marion (Harry) Harley, and Dennis (April) Harley; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; Brother-in-law, James Parker; god daughter, Evette Hammond; three sisters, Dorothy Spells, Mae (Donald) Bush, and Alma Thomas; two brothers, Robert (Naomi) Owens, and Dean Owen; one aunt, Emma Owens; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and other friends.
Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
