Yet another pedestrian has been struck in the Walmart parking lot.
Sonya Brown, 39, of Barnwell, was walking north in the parking lot when she was "sideswiped" by a 2006 Honda Pilot driven by 52-year-old Trudy Goode, also of Barnwell, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the S.C. Highway Patrol. While the accident was in the Barnwell Police Department's jurisdiction, they were tied up with a stabbing at the Litchfield Apartments.
Brown was transported to the Barnwell emergency room with "minor injuries," said Jones, adding how no charges have been filed in the accident.
This is just the latest incident involving a pedestrian being hit by a car in the parking lot of the shopping center where the big box store is located. There have been at least four other incidents in the past year-and-a-half, including one Dec. 22, 2013, where a Walmart employee was struck while pushing buggies and a fatal one exactly a year before that.
