Henry Dean "Don" McAllister, 90, of Barnwell, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the home of his loving son, Henry D. McAllister Jr.
He was born in Fort Payne, Ala., on Aug. 2, 1923. He was the son of the late R. Frank McAllister Sr. and Nancy Dean McAllister. He served his country during WWII, first in the Army Air Corp and later in the Armored Division "Hell on Wheels" stationed in Europe. He moved his family to Barnwell in 1953 and retired from E.I. DuPont Savannah River Plant after 30 years.
In addition to his son, He is survived by the mother of his son, Lee Dell Wilks Draughon.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Hazel M. Everett, Clara M. Moore, Virginia Frasier; brothers, R. Frank McAllister Jr., Robert Earl "Bud McAllister and Glen Levois McAllister.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Feb. 1, at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery near the airport with Rev. David Turner officiating. Visitation was held from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. at Mole Funeral Home.
Mole Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
