S.C. legislators again cancel session due to weather
COLUMBIA - The South Carolina Senate is canceling its legislative session this week due to forecasts of more snow and ice.
Senate President Pro Tem John Courson made the decision Monday. The House already is on furlough this week. But two Ways and Means subcommittees were meeting anyway. Their meeting times have been rescheduled.
The Legislature's normal Tuesday-through-Thursday schedule is set to resume next week.
It marks the second time in three weeks that winter weather will keep legislators from meeting. Both the House and Senate canceled sessions Jan. 28 through 30, when about two inches of snow fell in the Columbia area.
Gov. Nikki Haley has scheduled a conference call Monday afternoon with state emergency officials.
The preparatory meeting comes days after their conference call to review the last event.
