Wilmot Lancaster

Wilmot Brooker "Bill" Lancaster, 86, of Govan, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Southern Palmetto Hospital.
Mr. Lancaster was born in Govan and was the son of the late John Frank and Jessie Zorn Lancaster. He attended The Citadel and Clemson University, was a farmer, avid bird hunter, gardener and faithful member of Georges Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Katherine Smith Lancaster; and a sister, Helen L. Hagler.
Bill meant many things to many people. He was a friend, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, and member of the famous Hardees Coffee Club. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness and generosity to others and will be greatly missed by many. He was a wonderful friend to shut-ins, always there for others, a caring and loving man who adored his family. As Glenn Said "Daddy, we will see you on the other side."
The home-going was a graveside service held at 2 p.m., Feb. 22, at Georges Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Still 0fficiating. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Feb. 21, at the residence of Glenn and Cindy Lancaster, 130 Walnut Ave., Barnwell.
Survivors include his son, Glenn Lancaster (Cindy) of Barnwell; stepson, Robert Ash (Sharon) of Austin, Texas; stepdaughter, Scottie (Norm) Nicholson of Columbia; grandson, Travis (Michelle) Lancaster of Greer; granddaughters, Tiffany Lancaster (Tommy) Moore of Barnwell; Katherine Ash of Austin, Texas; great-granddaughters, Kortney Hutto of Williston, T. J. Moore of Barnwell, Ce'de, Hart and Cruz Lancaster of Greer; great-great-granddaughter, Abbigail Graylyn Smith of Williston; sisters, Marjorie L Blake of Bamberg, Virginia L Goethe of St. George; along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Georges Creek Baptist Church, 7519 Govan Rd., Olar, S.C. 29843.
Keith Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
