Water Media Display
The Barnwell County Museum is having the S.C. Water Media showing during the month of March. The Water Media exhibit will be through March 27. The museum is open Tuesday through Wednesdays from 3-5:30 p.m. The reception for the Water Media is being held on March 9 at 3 p.m.

Circle Theatre's ‘Second Samuel'
How can the death of one sweet little old lady turn an entire town upside down? Find out during Circle Theatre of Barnwell's production of "Second Samuel." Remaining performances are March 7 & 8 at 8 p.m. with matinee on March 9 at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for students/seniors and $12 for adults. The theatre now accepts credit cards.

Kite Festival
Come Fly a Kite is a kite flying festival that is free to the public, but you must call to register! It will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at Diamond Lakes Park (102 Diamond Lakes Way, Augusta, Ga.). Recognitions for homemade and purchased - Highest Flying, Largest, Smallest, Most Unusual, Oldest and Youngest Flyer.
It is sponsored by East Coast Operators, CB Club, and Augusta Recreation, Parks and Facilitates Department.

Salkehatchie Stew
Salkehatchie Stew's "What Matters Most" play will take you back to the 1960s. Performances are at 3 p.m. on the following days: March 15 at Circle Theatre (325 Academy St., Barnwell; March 22 and 23 at The Palmetto Theatre (108 Lee Ave., Hampton; and March 29 at The Dane Theatre (131 South Palmetto Ave., Denmark).
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Group packages are available for groups of 12 of more. Tickets will be available at the door until sold out.
County Historical Tour packages are available for each Saturday performance. All tours are from 10 am to 2 pm and cost $10.

Senior Fun Day
Generations Unlimited will be hosting a day of fun and entertainment for seniors age 60 and over on Saturday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gail Reyes Senior Center. There will be outdoor games, BINGO, a cookout with hamburgers and sides and a Country Western concert of old country favorites. Lunch is free to eligible seniors and can be purchased by guests.

Spring Festival
Blackville First Baptist Church will have an early Spring Festival on Saturday, March 8, from 2-4 p.m. They'll have snow cones, popcorn, parachute games, bouncy houses, games, prizes and a live Bible story. Everything is free. It's sponsored by the youth of Blackville First Baptist, Hilda First Baptist and Double Pond First Baptist.

Taste of Blackville
The 8th annual Taste of Blackville will be held Saturday, April 12.
There will be vendors, BBQ, inflatable slide, Blackville-Hilda High School step team and band, pictures with the Easter Bunny, hat parade, and best dressed pet parade. Vendor forms are available at Enterprise Bank in Blackville.

Driver Safety Class
AARP Senior Driver Safety will hold classes on Thursday, April 17, and Thursday, July 17, at Generations Unlimited (10913 Ellenton St., Barnwell). Class will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 3:30 p.m. You may bring lunch or purchase it for a nominal fee from Generations Unlimited.
The cost for class materials is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, cash or check (payable to AARP). Completion of this class may result in a discount on the participant's automobile insurance.

Blackville Music/Art Festival
The Blackville Music & Art Festival Committee presents its 3rd Annual Music & Art Festival on May 16-17 starting at 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. They hope to make the event bigger and better and invite vendors, performers and others to take part.

Golf Tournament
The Williston Fire Department's golf tournament (four-man captain's choice) at Sweetwater Country Club March 15 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Entry is $50.
A BBQ chicken lunch will be served after the tournament. There will be door prizes and prizes for closest to the pin. Also, raffle tickets can be purchased for a chance to win a $350 gift certificate to Mahuron's Building Supply or a 35-quart tan YETI cooler.
All proceeds are going towards the refurbishment of Old Glory, an old fire truck.

Miss/Master Springfest Pageant
The Allendale County Miss/Master Springfest "Natural" Beauty Pageant, in honor of the Allendale County "Cooter" Festival, will be March 22 at 465 James Brandt Blvd., Allendale. Deadline for applications is March 15.
Groups: Boys: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9; Girls: 0-11, 12-23, 2yr, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20 & up (single/married).
Beauty pageant package costs $60 (Beauty, Spring Wear, Photogenic, hair, eyes, smile).

Warhorse Club
The Barnwell Warhorse Club will hold their 28th annual dance and auction on Friday, March 21, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Sweetwater Country Club. The cost is $10 per person. There will be heavy hors D'oeuvres, silent and live auction, and music provided by Gary Brantley.
This will be followed Saturday, March 22, by their annual golf tournament (four-person captain's choice). Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
The tournament costs $50 per person (includes green fees, cart and lunch). There will be a $10,000 hole-in-one shot and $5,000 50' putt.

Susie Rosier 5K Run/Walk
The 8th Annual Susie Rosier Character of Fitness 5K Run and Walk will be April 12 at the Barnwell County Veterans Memorial Park. It raises money to support the No Cost/Low Cost Spay/Neuter program. The funds also contribute to the foundation's support and improvements of the Barnwell County Animal Shelter.
By participating in the 2014 Susie Rosier 5K event as a sponsor ($100 or more), you can help continue efforts to control the county's pet population. Any contribution will be appreciated. Barnwell County Animal Shelter Foundation is a recognized South Carolina non-profit corporation, with 501c-3 status.

Chamber Golf Tournament
The Barnwell County Chamber of Commerce Benefit Golf Tournament will be held Friday, April 25, at Sweetwater Country Club in Barnwell. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a Shotgun start at 10 a.m. The format is 4-person Captain's Choice and cost is $200 per team. Many prizes will be awarded, including Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive.
Hole sponsorships also are available for $100. Join the Chamber for a day of fun and networking.

Barnwell Primary
Four and five-year-old registration for the 2014-15 school year at Barnwell Primary School will be held every Wednesday and Thursday through May 1 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Students must be 4 or 5 years old on or before Sept 1, 2014 to enter school in August 2014.
Parents should bring the following to register their children: SC Shot Record, Certified Birth Certificate, Child's Social Security Card, Two Current Dated Proofs (must provide current dated power bill at time of registration and one other proof of residence in parent's name & address). There is a $15 material fee due at registration.

Delta Sigma Theta
The Denmark Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will have its monthly meeting on Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at Voorhees College.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous (This is it! Group) meets on the following days at Refuge Outreach on Main Street in Williston between Hardee's and Family Dollar: every Sunday at 6 p.m. (open discussion; speaker on last Sunday); every Monday at 6:30 p.m. (open step/tradition study); and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (open big book study). They also meet every Tuesday at 7 p.m. (open beginners) at Gateway Church (8678 Marlboro Avenue, Barnwell).

Blackville Recreation
The town of Blackville Recreation Department is accepting applications for volunteer coaches for baseball and tee-ball. Applications are available at Blackville Town Hall.
Registration is underway for children ages 7-13 through March 7 at the town hall during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). The registration fee is $20.

Baseball Camp
LeBon Joye's Baseball Camp will be held March 8-9 at the Lemon Park Sports Complex. It's a free camp for kids ages seven and up. It will take place March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 9 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Participants will learn about hitting, fielding, base-running, pitching and defensive situations.
LeBon Joye, a scout for the Atlanta Braves, is a product of Barnwell Dixie Youth and High School All-Region and MVP.

The Allendale-Fairfax High School Class of 1984 will have a class meeting March 8 at 4 p.m. at the B&G Center in Allendale. This is to prepare for the 30th class reunion.
