Girl Scout cookies are here, and they are more than just a tasty treat!
Scouts have been out at area businesses selling cookies, including Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs, for $4 a box the past couple of weeks.
If you haven't gotten a box - or two - of your favorite cookies yet, they will continue to be sold over the coming weeks. Scouts will be on the Circle in downtown Barnwell and at Advanced Auto from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 13, on the Circle and at Walmart from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 14, and at Walmart and 3D Auto Sales in Williston from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 15.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls skills like goal setting, money management and decision making. "Selling Girl Scout cookies serves as a learning tool that teaches the girls the importance of teamwork and unity," said Elizabeth Buxton, Troop 753 leader.
Proceeds from cookie sales help troops and encourages girls to do great things in their community and state, said Buxton.
