The Barnwell High Warhorses continued to play crisp baseball in region play.
On Friday at John Hall Field, the Warhorses dismantled the Saints of Calhoun County High by a score of 10-0.
Barnwell High, which has outscored their region counterparts 28-7, improves to 3-0 in region play.
Despite the Warhorses' early success in the region, coach Don Mims isn't exactly enamored with his team's overall play.
"Right now, I'm looking for a little more consistency," Mims said.
"I thought we played pretty good against Wade Hampton and Edisto, but we struggled to hit the ball in a loss to Williston-Elko."
The Warhorses jumped all over the Saints' pitching to the tune of four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
For the Warhorses, Dylan Brant led with a single, then advanced to third off a hit by Parker Pritchard. Next, Ricky Hartzog came up big at the plate with a liner to right center, scoring Brant.
One batter later, Rylan Still belted a single to deep centerfield, scoring Pritchard. Moments later, Justin Ridgeway's slow grounder along the first base line allowed Hartzog to score from third.
James Plexico then capped off the scoring by driving in Still with a RBI single to centerfield.
Unfortunately for the Saints, the game got out of reach over the next two innings as the Warhorses plated six more runs for a commanding 10-0 lead.
For the game, Brant and Hartzog led the Warhorses with three hits each. Plexico and Pritchard each had two hits.
Still picked up the win for the Warhorses, tossing a one-hitter through four innings with six strikeouts.
In other region action, the Warhorses had their way with Edisto High by a count of 12-2 March 21 in Cordova.
The Warhorses, who had only seven hits, took advantage of seven walks and three errors by the Cougars.
The Warhorses fell behind 1-0 after one inning, but quickly seized control of the game with a nine-run second inning.
Justin Ridgeway, who scored twice in the inning, had a two-run RBI single in the inning.
Others scoring included Brant, Hartzog, Pritchard, Plexico, Seth Chestnut and Nathan Toole.
Still got the job done on the mound, tossing a three hitter with a walk and four strikeouts.
